It turns out I was lucky enough to win a free copy today! Did anyone else win one?
Sort of
I did!

Tried to do the install to ps3 from website and it just says waiting forever. I didn't setup anything on my ps3 so not surprised. Will see what it looks like when I get home.
OverKill mode doesn't look as fresh as I was expecting, but I suppose that's a Black Label for you. Diving right into debris clusters and unloading on them to maximize one's level is probably exhilarating. It does seem a bit like they were trying to bring the game closer to Raiden Fighters, especially with the inclusion of medaling.
Yep, can't get it working either. This needs stick support

So far I can get movement to work if I switch my stick's stick output to Left Analog. But no good on the buttons working...

I left a note on UFO's Facebook page about it... to be honest, stick isn't necessary to enjoy the game, but it's just a little bit of a bummer when you go to use stick and it doesn't work. Anyway, I'll be playing the game a bit now. What stick are you using, Pretas?
I'm using the Soul Calibur V stick by Hori, maybe it's Hori sticks that have the problem?
Response from UFO:
Overkill officially supports licensed PlayStation controllers. However, it should work fine with other controllers; please contact the 3rd party company that makes your controller if you have any issues.

Got lucky and grabbed a code via UFO Interactive's Twitter account. Enjoying Raiden 4: OverKill so far, and I'm especially glad another Shmup managed to be released on PS3 (and outside of Japan, no less!).

That's real strange. My PS3 stick is a Qanba Q1, and the game had no issues detecting joystick or button inputs. Just got back from testing it out minutes ago.
Maybe it's certain sticks that have this issue. I'm curious, anyone here using PS2 sticks + converters?
In Overkill mode, many of the larger airborne ships are able to be damaged further for Overkill. When attacked in this phase, there are 5 levels of Overkill which determines how many points the Overkill medal is worth. You really need to point blank them hardcore to get a level 5 Overkill medal. Bombing also boosts the overkill at least 1 level. The overkill medals give hefty points, further emphasizing this mode.
Speaking of bombs. You can gain some bombs back depending on how well you do during the Mission Stages? If you collect all 20 fairies or destroy 1000 meteors you get a 1up on each mission!
Ontop of overkill, other medals are speckled everywhere for quick killing any enemy. They are automatically sucked in.
The two new mission stages are in fact, fresh, new stages. They're very action packed ontop of the mission objectives. They are tacked in between the regular stages. Overkill mode also seems to include the X360 stages, making it the longest mode yet if you include the loop (I'm assuming it's there.) A total of 9 stages per loop, it's like an old school Raiden game now.
The overkill mode also sports an arranged soundtrack, but I think the originals are probably better suited for the game.
This is pretty awesome.

Is it all arranged soundtracks from the Raiden: The Lightning Strikes Back 4-Disc set?, or are there new arranged tracks? Also, is there an arranged version of Gallantry anywhere to be found? Finally, is there new music for the 2 new missions? I'll probably try it out in an hour when it finishes downloading.
I'm also having some problems getting my arcade stick to work with it. I tried the Mad Catz Tekken Hybrid Fightstick, and it wouldn't recognize any of the inputs except for if I set the stick to be the left analog instead of the d-pad.
I'm trying my Hori Fighting Stick 3 now and it seems to be working.
