I believe it was mentioned in a video by one of the guys who got to play an hour of the full game before. It might have been OroboroTheNinja or DaveControlLive on Youtube. Or it might have been someone else. I forgot.

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen did a similar thing with BitterBlack Isle. It would even have completely new enemies and have like four boss monsters at once in a single area. Dark Souls did have 2 Sanctuary guardians at once once you got back to the DLC starting area so similar stuff for Dark Souls 2 might be really cool.

Funny, this thought has been going through my head a bit lately. Probably obvious to everyone I LOVE dark souls. It is far more than my favorite game of this gen, but not everything was a step up from demon's souls. One thing that bothers me a little bit with Dark Souls is how they forget some of the bigger themes from demon's souls, yet kept their mechanics. For instance, the whole notion of collecting souls and using them to level up is an actual STORY ELEMENT in demon's souls, where in dark souls we just accept that your character can absorb souls and use them to become stronger. Oddly enough, Dark Souls would have been better making the commodity Humanity, but for game play's sake, they kept souls and humanity separate. This weird duality seems to continue in Dark Souls II, but I'd love to see some actual explanation of why this woman in green can use souls you have collected to infuse you with greater power.

There are a few other things I think Demon's Souls handles better (sorting of equipment for instance), but most of them can't compete with Dark Souls interconnected world and greater range of viable builds. At the end of the day, I think both games are great, but Demon's Souls feels like a prologue to Dark Souls for me. Without the latter, I don't think I'd have gone back and spent so much time with the former.

I played Demon's Souls after Dark Souls. I felt that a lot of the bosses in Demon's were pretty underwhelming. The game was easier overall, but that's probably because the basic mechanics of fighting between the games are so similar. I really loved working my way through the Valley of Defilement though. I think that was the best part of the game. I wouldn't say that it was disappointing.

For what it's worth, it was a completely blind playthrough. I was being extremely safe with my stats, dumping everything into Vitality and Endurance. I used the Spear and Crescent Falchion throughout the entire game.

I liked Dark Souls better, and it helped me get into Demon's Souls more.

My main problem with Demon's Souls, is that it lacks "punch", in terms of looks. Everything looks nice enough, but when it's time to grab your attention(like with bosses), it doesn't really kick it into high gear.

Dark Souls' bosses are way more impressive, and the game has more "wow" type moments(Anor Londo). Also the amount of weapons, armor, and customization gives you a lot to mess with.

Demon's Souls is a great game, but it took a while to appreciate it. It just lacks a little visual punch. Better frame rate though.

good for vaati. lol at selling out. if he was shilling for from software, that would be one thing. but i don't see anything wrong with that video. as a matter of fact the only thing out of place is the gamestop logo. other than that it looks like it would be at home on his own channel. dude is really excited about ds2, just like the rest of us.

Other way round for me.
Liked it enough to have a pre-order going for 2 and was very fun to play but it didn't capture the same atmosphere of "hopelessness" that Demon's had, it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what I'm trying to describe.
I guess our first holds a special place in our hearts Nexus > Firelink Shrine as a "hub" area
