STGT'12 Week 4 Voting: Cave Week
Re: STGT'12 Week 4 Voting: Cave Week
Wow. This discussion is silly. Chill out and either play or don't I guess, but so many people making asses of themselves is kind of hard to read.

I thought this was supposed to be something like a friendly tournament. If you don't like the game picked you can always just play whatever you want, nobody's forcing anyone. :\
Re: STGT'12 Week 4 Voting: Cave Week
Deca, why are you so worked up over my post? Seriously, why are you insulting me over here? Taking a blow at me that way, did not expect that from you man
First off, Galuda is loved by this community. Plain and simple, I really don't see why anyone would have a problem playing it, especially compared to DOJ (bitch chaining rawww) and Ketsui (impossible loop requirements rawww). I've learned all three enough to 1-All DOJ and Ketsui a handful of times, and Galuda maybe about a dozen... I had fun with all, but to me Galuda was best for score play.
As for this:
Second read - hmmm, guy seems upset about something, maybe his long commute, not really sure exactly....
Third read - soooo, he would mind if it was Galuda if a tons of people drove longer to work but played less and the game didn't take as long to get somewhere... Ummm what?! Oh, and WHY???
Oh f@*€# this forum already lol

First read - say what? I need to make coffee or something... Jesus Christ I should still be in bed.I wouldn't mind Galuda getting picked if it wasn't a ton of people who put less time per week into STGT than I put per day into commuting deciding on a game that demands retarded amounts of optimization to get anywhere.

WARNING WARNING
HERE COMES THE LONG ONE
As much as I hate this game, I have a few things to say:
I do feel as though a lot of teams I haven't ever heard of before voted for EspGaluda because they were under the impression that it is the "easiest" of the three, which is true survival-wise but score-wise I still think its only a tiny notch under the other Cave games trying to optimize score within this game. That being said, as much as I would have liked Ketsui for obvious reasons including a titans battle, I feel it would favor those who are already familiar with the game by this point to where if you haven't ever been playing ketsui you would generally be SOL this week.
DOJ would have been an interesting pick but I haven't played it enough to honestly give an opinion on it, but I guess that EspGaluda won over it because of the "easy" perception when it comes to scoring.
When Galuda was announced last night, I did bitch and moan elsewhere, but given the track record for STGT games this year vs STGT games last year, I took one step back and a deep breath and counted my blessings. I had said to myself that I was not going to play if EspGaluda was picked, but a few hours of discussion last night and a lot of convincing and pick-me-ups got me back on my feet to try again.
I come back today and theres a shitstorm of confusion in the topic, sikraiken baiting people and provoking them (stop feeding HIM), and generally shitposting all around. I haven't seen this much bitching since Daioh or P47A last year, and honestly this game is still a better pick for a STGT than those other two games. People in this topic are stooping to strange new lows because a game they wanted to win ended up losing. That isn't going to stop me from playing this week though, and I'm going to take it in and play instead of whine about it.

I actually like P-47 outside of the humping stuff to score thing.
And I've still been playing. My best is just over 10 million so far. Funny thing is that this was an overheat run as a joke and I still somehow outscored my run where I was trying.
Oh and I do like this game. It's still better to play than Ketsui or DOJ. And I don't think the Ketsui first loop system is bad outside of the empty lock thing.

Obligatory.
Re: STGT'12 Week 4 Voting: Cave Week
Pretty sure you got that backwards - from the standpoint of the rank beginner, Ketsui is far more approachable than trying to learn DOJ chains.Despatche wrote:ketsui yes, doj nosikraiken wrote:Majority of the players in this tournament will enjoy playing Espgaluda this week more than they would have enjoyed playing Ketsui or DOJ.

Also if you look at my earlier posts: Ketsui looks good -> an EspGaluda is fine too

Yeah, I always wear a tin foil hait when I submit my vote, so that Sik doesn't send me the wrong thoughts. Although, this week my team voted on Espgaluda nonetheless, so his powers must be strong.BareknuckleRoo wrote:img

sikraiken didn't sway my comments or thought at all. I didn't even know what he wrote until after.
Actually it was trap15's fault, in my case. Maybe there was some spillover, but I doubt it.

I thought we were clear that real gangstaz dont listen to traps.
Edit: Oh, wait! What am I doing here, I must play the STGT game for 8 hours a day before my opinion matters. See ya!

I apologize, the hostility wasn't meant to be directed at you as much as it ended up being. I was/am mostly frustrated with the decision for reasons that have been cited by numerous others. Honestly I regretted making the post as soon as I had submitted it, I was venting instead of just letting myself cool down like I should have. I let myself get wound up by others sharing similar frustrations.chempop wrote:Deca, why are you so worked up over my post? Seriously, why are you insulting me over here? I really didn't think Galuda even had a chance this week, I was almost certain Ketsui would win. I'll be completely honest and say that I wasn't looking forward to a week of Ketsui personally, but I just feel as though it and DOJ have much more approachable scoring systems despite initial appearances. The issue with Galuda is that the scoring is rather loose and abstract. Once you get a feel for the base mechanics in DOJ, seeing how chain routes work in replays isn't too difficult to figure out. Watching Galuda replays is just a confusing mess until you have a firm understanding of and feel for the game.
Galuda is a game that has never felt rewarding or enjoyable for me at all and I'm really not looking forward to sinking time into it, but I do fully intend to put effort into playing and learning it this week. Who knows, maybe my opinion will change.

Galuda is enjoyable
Galuda is also...easy
Stupidly easy imo.

I'm happy to be playing galuda, as are 16 other teams, apparently.
For those who think its "so easy" or "stupidly easy". Post the top score. If not, you have work to do.
Let's go shoot stuff, eh.

I mean personally our team voted for Ketsui, it was actually a draw between ketsui and Esp, there was a roll off and Esp won.
The point is, I'm not really sure how many people actually chose Espgaluda just because they thought it would be an easy clear. I mean, as someone coming from one of the teams who isn't going to get top 3 overall teamwise, you gotta know the same people are going to dominate no matter what the game is. Because of that, which game gets chosen is more down to just what your players will enjoy more.
To all the friggin' complainers in this thread, seriously either just play the game and shut up, or don't play the game and shut up. Either way, don't bitch and moan like a little kid with a skinned knee because feckin' Dodgeball didn't win.
ESPECIALLY if you're gonna play like 3 credits and then say "well I've done all I can this week!"

It seems a bit strange to agree to participate in a tournament where it's explicit that you're not always going to get to play a game you want/like, then complain when a game you dislike is chosen.Illyrian wrote:Either way, don't bitch and moan like a little kid with a skinned knee because feckin' Dodgeball didn't win.

To be fair, complaining and bitching is sort of a tradition for STGT, it's a good way to vent when you've spent a lot of time on a silly game and still have a few more weeks to go... and shmups are pretty frustrating like that. I don't think anybody is really complaining that seriously now or threatening to go on a tantrum... just some good old-fashioned ranting.BareknuckleRoo wrote:It seems a bit strange to agree to participate in a tournament where it's explicit that you're not always going to get to play a game you want/like, then complain when a game you dislike is chosen.Illyrian wrote:Either way, don't bitch and moan like a little kid with a skinned knee because feckin' Dodgeball didn't win.
This STGT has been fairly low on drama too, it's disappointing for us spectators
