Interesting to see all the artwork Capcom is putting into the cameo characters for its Onimusha Soul browser game: http://members.oni-soul.jp/payment/cap_heroines/
Click on a character to see her/his 4 levels of power, each with its own art.

Re: Video Game Artwork
Even by the usual illustrious standards of old Japanese game manuals, Top Secret: MASTER D NO FUKKATSU's booklet is rather charming. It's also a hefty little thing! Has an illustrated explanation for seemingly every possible trick in the grappling arm's repertoire. But not every one, reaching Area 3's secret item cache will remain a mystery until you get swingin'!

I really need to get around to scanning all the artwork pages out of the various PC-98 game manuals I've got. Some really good art in there, lots of it comical like the stuff you've posted

^Please do! I own nothing PC-98 related, and probably never will, so I'd love to see some of that stuff.

Cannot be overstated how singularly ferocious SFMD's boxart is. Pretty sure if that ship ran out of ammo it could just bludgeon and stab stuff to death with its hull.

With a title like that, it's pretty damn hardcore alright.BIL wrote:Cannot be overstated how singularly ferocious SFMD's boxart is. Pretty sure if that ship ran out of ammo it could just bludgeon and stab stuff to death with its hull.

Have you tried the demo? If you like old-timey JRPGs you should enjoy it (if you don't it probably won't convert you though).blackoak wrote:game will probably suck, but I love this character design from Bravely Default:

Cool stuff - I know I've seen a few of those before, but the majority were new to me. Still like the Dracula X one best, the plague of rats is a very nice touch.
Been liking the Mark III Shinobi boxart lately. Grew up with the blah US box so the vivid colour and well-composed fight scene surprised me. Also nice that it actually reflects Joe's in-game character design.

Re: Video Game Artwork
I've had a soft spot for this since I first laid eyes on it. All of the Konami MSX games had excellent artwork, but this is my favourite

This image (the same for the Japanese PSX) was a classic to me the very first time I saw it. So simple, so awesome. I was pissed when I saw the US version...

Not exactly video game art, but I have this hanging in my home:

I also have a small canvas oil painting of Vega from SF. It was my wife's Christmas gift the first year we were married.

You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.
