Haven't heard much of mjclark in several months but online-wise he's pretty much dropped off the face of the Earth completely. Probably more personal stuff got in the way (like a lack of internet access, kids etc) that had higher priority over convincing an admin on a power trip to cool off and unban him.

I for one still believe mjclark should never have been banned in the first place. If anyone really cared that he pirated Fast Striker, he would've been banned when rancor went White Knight about it ages ago. Instead he gets banned some 2+ years after the fact, with system11's nerves stepped on thanks to a MAMEdev being involved in an argument, and a shitpile of a thread where just about everyone (including myself) was no better or worse. I agree with system11 on most logical things (the curse of region-locking etc), but not this.

Gustav....... This... is a masterpiece.
Second only to Ketsui Back Label!

The Awesome Photoshop Power being put to such good use...
The Music Being deliberately distorted to be as humorous as possible...
The Floating faces I may or may not understand....

It's simply gorgeous. There's nothing in the world that can replicate this genius.
The only thing it's missing is this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzZ2DOWRmkY&t=3m18s

It's very sad that he was banned  . Shump is the first person who contact w/ me in this forum. Also, informed my game to you guys, and notify me about this forum. I feel sorry to his situation, &, I want to say he is a good person  . (Not good English. so I do not want to say more :( )

I don't want to keep conversation which is right or wrong, but hope to keep this thread. I'm so Scared SYSTEM 11 AVATAR (joke. :D )

Why do you put so many faces in your games?
Especially the bosses.

It is funny, but I just don't understand the meaning behind it...

Maybe knowing who most of them are might help?

Characters/Faces that feature in Odd Mobs that I know of so far:
- Ghandi (obvious)
- Lee Myung-bak (President of South Korea, did business in Hyundai, got fined for spending too much in election campaigns and paying people hush money)
- "You just activated my trap card!" guy
- Billy Herrington (you don't want to know)
- don't know who the reporter guys in DoTonPachi are

Quite a few in the original Odd Mobs that I didn't mention above are from Rustic Period / Yain Shidae / Age of Gangsters. It's about a mobster/politician named Kim Du-Han. That episode I linked to involves a dude (can't get a straight answer to the name, Goja/Sim Young/Shim pops up a lot) using a play to promote the Communist Party and getting shot in the balls by Du-Han's sidekick. Love the parodies of the scene when he hears the bad news.

Fun Fact: in an older version of Odd Mobs, pressing a button in one of the subsections in the Main Menu took you to a test room versing that guy with one phase looking like Akai Katana's TLB but with no bullets.

So the whole game is a front for the mocking of political mishaps?

Korean memes, including political mishaps, yep.

I think it's a stretch to say the same of his newer titles though, they seem more like trying to put Braid graphics in Ketsui than anything political or meme-based. :P

I'm wondering if the copyright claim was due to the music used in the game or because the title is literally one letter off from an actual official Cave title.

Without input from Gustav I have no idea, but I'm supposing it's the latter. In which case he could dodge it by re-uploading the game with the title "Odd Mobs Maximum" or "DoTonPachi Unlimited" or some shit.

Seems that not only did the post on his blog and the MediaFire download link got password locked, but the videos he had uploaded for it are gone. That sucks. :(

Ironically this is probably the most likely reason. Apparently the Korean government (or some section in Korea) stomped on the original Odd Mobs. Guess they don't like Kim Doohan and the Korean president getting mocked?
