Did you have enough Hyper? You will have to kill enough enemies first. Then when you hear a bling sound, it means that you've got the Hyper, granting you Mini-Cobras in battle. It's done by pressing V, then you move, then there they are.

My Stage 1 video proves why.

Still not satisfied? Here's a short demonstration vs DOJ Suzaku, and you'll see the difference. For Twin Cobra, you can also touch the corners to lure the Mini-Cobras to your copter to protect you.

Can someone help me with finding the latest update? I cannot for the life of me navigate around the developer's page.

I've uploaded the replay files for both modes featuring Twin Cobra. This features how you can nearly chain properly in Normal Mode and how you can survive Death Label with a higher score.

Just when hope was fading, up on the Original Author's Page:v0.999
Looks truly MENTAL!!!!
(Simple this time-just click "Download" box on left hand side of middle of page).
There's no music but just copy the contents of "Music" folder from previous version.

Still can't work out why this isn't posted on the 2chan Developer's Board.
Maybe the original author has taken the project back over.

Thanks for the link. That server seems kinda slow though (I can't get a full download). Too bad no mirrors are allowed.

Yeah- I had to click the "8.zip" link a couple of times before I could get a full download but it's worth persevering.
If you get really stuck let me know
Incidentally, the title screen now says the game is copylefted (by EVAC Industries lol). If this isn't ironic, then it means that it can now be freely distributed and mirrors should be OK but let's hold back just yet.
It also means that the game can be modified by anybody else (as long as all the subsequent modifications are also freely distributable) so anything could happen :D

There's been 22 downloads of v0999 in the past 2 hours, so I'm also wondering how anyone knows about it- I've just been watching the Original Author's Page but searching Google, 2chan and Twitter doesn't reveal any linking to this d/l. Maybe they're all on IRC. I know Observer keeps a keen eye on the boards, so do you know where the latest news for this is being broadcast?

Word of mouth should be the main, the 2ch boards and probably the developers and friends testing plus the occasional random curious.

I guess there is also a need of thinking of something else other than the recent tragedy so things like this help a lot.

Yeah-that makes sense. I'd wondered if this project had been lost forever.
Anyway, 3 more new ships (including one from Giga Wing and a seriously weird UFO) and Hibachi Resurrection chaining issue is fixed so it's GAME ON!!

I think I got a successful download out of it on my first try but I had to overwrite the previous GwangeDash copy I had of it with this new one to get it to not crash. Was this download meant to be a full copy or just a patch with lots of changes files?

It's frustrating that people are having trouble with the download- it's definitely working for me but it took a couple of attempts.
This should be a 19.6Mb download and it's a complete version but just lacking music (which you need to copy over from a previous release).
Like I said, if you get really stuck let me know

Oh dear. Mine's 19.5 zipped. That may have been it. I just copied it all into GwangeDash's old release folder and it worked but I dont know if it may have messed up or something. Do you know how big the ZIP's meant to be exactly? D:

For the correct zip Windows reports size:19.5Mb (20,543,746 bytes) and
size on disc:19.5Mb (20,545,536 bytes)

Just extract the zip to a new location and you'll get a folder with an extremely long namecalled "GwangeDash0999...+". Run the .exe and KeyConfig from there and get down with Mu-Tron :D

Oh, cool. I did get it after all.

Which leaves the question as to why it kept crashing when I ran it prior to putting it into the old GwangeDash folder. Weird.

Just up on Author's Page: debug110403 update patch
(just overwrite files in game directory)
Apparently makes some changes to Rain, XII Stag and Ikaruga ships among other things.

Two updates since yesterday morning means we're off the chain now :D

Sounds like the newest version is a little hinky. Is it worth downloading, or should I hold off for the next version?

Havn't had any problems with v0999 or the patch here apart from having to retry the download, so grab it while it's hot!

And it's worth it just to see this:

Neat. Gave it a try, but I couldn't get it to accept the music folder from the old one. Or, should I be dumping the new folders into the old one? Reading through the last couple posts it sounds like I should do that, but I want to make sure before I try. Yay! New ships! Umm, Mu Tron is funky, I'll have to try out the different levels of the hyper with it later.

I extracted v0999 to it's own directory, copy and pasted the 11 .ogg files from "music" folder of v0998 into the empty "music" folder then overwrote the "seq" and "grp" folders from the patch (as well as the .txt files) into the game directory too.

Mu-Tron is like the biggest joke ship in this entire game.

Not only is it the best for Ketsui-style score attacking but it "GwangeDASHes" across the screen and has influences from Batrider's Car-Pet and generally LOLness.

As for the patch, I didn't notice any difference except for maybe Rain being a bit more powerful. I still call it useless until it properly emulates the shikigami mechanics.

It reminded me instantly of Kobo Deluxe but the firing shot type is different and the bomb's different.

Man, I'm starting to feel bad about this. I kind of totally left you addicted to this game

Anyway, I will have to try that, I dissed the Xevious ship because I hated the mechanic of hitting air/ground separately.

Also, powered by EVAC Industry Ltd.! And gotta love how the boss theme says "Detroit"... or whatever it says, heh.

Didnt you know?

This game is a hyper-realistic simulation of driving through the sreets of Detroit City, of course! Only thing missing from it is Robocop, but that's because he's property of the OCP.

Yes you did Observer and I can't thank you enough :D

One of the things I'm loving about this is the way it has a whole shmup heritage to be investigated too. I've taken a new interest in DOJ, Xevious and XII Stag since GwangeDash came along as well as discovering Mutant Night and the joys of 2chan.
The mystery surrounding the developers and the sudden unexpected appearance of new versions only adds to the fascination.
And as we've noted before, this game is BANGIN'!!!!!
So yeah-Detroit!

So it turns out a mirror for v0.6 of the original game (G-wange[longname], not dash) is still alive. This came up because people were talking in the 2ch thread about whether the original is a kusoge or not - I'm not sure it's finished enough to judge but it's cool to be able to see this game as well.

Wow- that's really quite exciting and thanks for posting it.
What are they actually saying on that 2chan board then?- I've been trying to follow it with Google Translate but a lot of it is indecipherable.
Also how did you find those mirrors cos I can't see them posted in the thread .
Fascinating :D
