After some re-listening I think Emph was right, so I went back and tweaked the reverb on my drums slightly. Both .wav and mp3 versions have been switched and downloads are enabled.

I uploaded my remix of Ketsui's stage 2 music on YouTube. I first just wanted to film my cabinets real quick, but the camera sucks ass, so I used the footage as a music video of sorts instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgxtANTk93Y

The video is a bit on the slow-mo side, as the footage's frame rate is changed to fit the length of the track.

Nice! I love your setup Emph! Very balanced.

What did you make that track with? Are you using samples or just recreating?

I liked it. You could obviously recognize what it was from if you are familiar with the game, but you made it your own at the same time. Well done. :) Although you might have used the "are you ready" sample a bit much, but that could just be me.

Ketsui has one of my favorite game soundtracks for sure. The boss music gets me pumped!

IMHO, it's perfect. The bad thing is that they're right next to the TV so I can only really play when the kids are sleeping and the GF is working late.

Thanks! I did the remix in Reason 3 (I got it on sale, probably will update to 4 or 5 if I get a job). The hardest part was figuring out that fast synth line that comes in right after the choir pads (in my version). It took many repeats to get right. All synth sounds are from soundbanks, all fx are Reason's own. The drum loop I sampled from one of my favourite breakbeat cd singles - "Urban Shakedown - Some Justice" then cut that up in ReCycle so I could play with it like how the Amen Brother loop is used in Ketsui. I thought that was pretty inspired. 8)

The voice samples are used quite a lot, but the "are you ready" one is actually two different ones. The one from the ship select is used most, and the one from right before a boss is used one or two times as well IIRC. In my defense, I was in a bit of a hurry when I did the remix, I got the urge to do it right before the shmups compilation was going to be finished. The remix took me two days to finish. The sound mix/EQ is pretty bad though, I NEED decent monitors!

Yep, the stage two track is my fave in the whole game though. That tune is hard to not keep humming/whistling for hours after playing the game. And the kick in the beginning of the boss theme is awesome.

The mix sounds fine, maybe drop levels on the speech samples a bit with a bit of delay effect to blend it in a bit.....again, this is just my take. The fact that you did this up in 2 days is impressive.

I was trying something similar for the guwange boss music using an MC-303, but I got side tracked and never finished it. I figured out all the parts and I have the intro and main verse done, although it was more of a cover than a remix. I should finish it but I will probably do it with something else rather than the MC-303; I was thinking of maybe doing it on a DMG or famitracker, even gave some thought to doing a simplified version with beepola(zx spectrum tracker).

I might just have to get back on that now that I finished that other track; a little side project before I jump back on the zombie album.

You should do more tracks like this one Emph, you did a great job on it!

Oh ya, back on the topic of your cabs; do you find having them by the window like that bothersome? The reflections from outside would bug the heck out of me. The 24khz pic with your UVC/360 setup looks really nice, way better than I imagined.

Well, it's the only place in the apartment for them so I have no other choice. Perhaps we will get shades for the windows, because in the summer, the sun rises on that side of the house, so I have to time my game sessions. Yeah, the UVC/360 is a great combo, it's really hard to capture just how good it looks though, especially with a crap camera.

Thanks for the kind words on the track.

Thanks, there's also a different (psytrance, almost) track on my soundcloud that evolved from that one. Went to the computer late the other night just to listen, tried something and spent another set of hours on it before dragging myself away.

Not one hundred percent happy with it yet but it's close.

It would be beyond awesome to do music for an oldschool run 'n' gun.. but it's an RTS project (C&C style). The team I'm working with isn't much into simple arcade action, I'd love to do that kind of games.

It kinda has a Nukleuz sound, like something that Picotto might have released a couple of years back. I like it a lot.

255 orders.
24:14 worth of music.
Enjoy.

Not terribly good, but I did it for the hell of it, filling up every space in the XM order-table in the process.
The song technically could be longer [by say, using pattern-lengths of 256 rather than 64], but I didn't expect that I'd hit the max of 255 orders.
Also, click the hi-fi version below, because the one on the player is half the sample rate, 64kbps to fit in 8MB, the site's upload limit.

Downloaded FamiTracker recently - how come I've never tried it!? It's awesome, and not too hard to use.
Spend many hours learning it, inputting notes, playing with effects etc. This is what I've got so far: http://www.sendspace.com/file/2b3vdm :D

I've been meaning to post something in this thread for a while, can't find the source files on my PC because - well - i just switched on my PC for the first time since the earthquake and it turns out that my 24 inch monitor did not survive the crash/bang/wallop :/

Anyways one largely dull but intentionally oriental style track from 10 years ago that i used in a Dragon Quest launch video (poor quality)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OuMvUEV1K0

too long , not focused, too dull. One day i'll tart it up a bit, but i have a whole other raft of tracks sitting around that i want to fix first.

done entirely on a 505 and with the inbuilt sequencer. Long time since i used that, since migrated everything over to Reason. <3 <3 Propellerheads <3 <3

Awesome stuff I have heard in this thread.

I am pretty terrible with the production side of things but I will post anyways.

Some dj mixes on there also. I was too lazy to use the turntables and CDJ's so I used Audacity to make them.
