Sorry, I meant "first print" edition will come with an OST.

It's all just glorified speak for the original print including a bonus disc.

I was obviously responding to the person who asked for a source concerning the lack of Tate, it had nothing to do with the OST comment.

And the answer to both of those is: neither.

This reminds me of the people who want to ban gay marriage on the grounds that it "destroys traditional marriage", even though nobody's forcing them to get gay married. Saying that you're not including a feature "to appeal to a broader audience" makes no sense - it's not like the game forces you to use Tate mode, so what's the harm in adding it?

What a ridiculous excuse. If this were really a consumer's product, it should be using a full 16:9 resolution. Or be a 16:9 horizontal shooter.

I just sent Chiyomaru an email, the 5pb. head. Hopefully he'll read it and consider adding Tate in.

Also mentioned that it would be profitable to make it region-free as evident by Futari and Galuda II, MMP/PS upcoming and Eschatos also being region-free, because there's no language barrier, and pointed him to the Top 100 sellers at Play-Asia.

And besides, a trial version is coming, so you can actually try this before importing (unlike practically all others aside from RFA).

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Please, no hate.

The game looks fun, especially the boss fights.

I have played many doujin shmups without tate and I could them enjoy without any problems.

Of course a tate-option would be great, but I can live without that.

Also, the fact that 5pb seems to consider a region-free release is a very good sign. What we currently seeing right now is a change of thinking in regards of in Japan developed games. I appreciate this.

With the amount of focus on the storyline and character that this seems to have, I wonder if they're using the otherwise unused portions of the 16:9 display for related shit - character animations or whatever - and that's why tate isn't an option.

Doesn't bother me either way. It's not like the current gen of games gains any additional accuracy to source from including a tate option. And non-tate on my widescreen gives a bigger image than tate on my small 4:3 CRT does, anyway. For me - as, I'd imagine, for most - it's a very minor thing.

I was going to play it in my vertical cab. No tate = no buy for me, though. Apart from that, the trailers made it look like you barely have to dodge anything because all the bullets turn white before they reach you. But of course, it's just trailers...

For me its: No Tate = No buy.

Doesnt look good with scoring etc outside of the play area.

Console/PC only vert without tate? That's never happened before (x_x games, every fucking touhou game, almost every doujin shmup ever, etc.)

Nice impressions on that article! Already sent an e-mail concerning regioning. The lack of tate is pretty horrible, but I think I could enjoy this game without it.

As long as it runs fullscreen yoko on a 4:3 monitor, I'm not gonna complain. HD consoles have put us long past the point of the aspect ratio and resolution issues of the yoko modes in previous console generations. Not to mention, it was never an arcade game in the first place.

Also, according to the official site, they're in the middle of a country-wide caravan-style score attack competition. The increasing number of comparisions to the Star Soldier games has my interest piqued.

I have a feeling the trailer is only showing an early level of the game, and it's probably unfair to judge difficulty based on that small bit of video. Can anyone think of a shmup trailer that didn't show someone playing at a reasonably high level? 5pb may have gone a little too far in that direction, but I'm still withholding judgement. I had the same reaction the first time I read about Ikaruga too, "So you can just ABSORB bullets if you're the same color? This is going to be SO easy!"

Even if it is a bit on the easy side, I can dig that too. Deathsmiles IIX was a nice little break after a month of Ketsui bootcamp, so this too should be a nice end-of-season vacation after I get through with Pink Sweets and DKF Black Label. Not every shmup has to be a total bloodbath.

Looks fun enough that I'll buy it if they go region-free.

Not too concerned about difficulty. It's just nice to see something in this genre that isn't Cave. I like Cave, but variety is important.

This game looks fun as hell, provided it makes you dodge anything at all. I'm not amazingly skilled at shooters, so I doubt I have anything to worry about, but vids make it seem like you can just cancel everything, which I hope isn't true at later/harder levels. I hope that not everything can be canceled or that there's some extra depth to the scoring system that I don't know about.

Also, I don't see why they wouldn't put in a tate mode. That's just dumb on their part. It wouldn't be a dealbreaker to me, but surely it wouldn't be hard to move those meters onto the main screen?

The one-level gameplay video clearly shows what's possible once you already know the level - the player pre-empts the appearance of enemies and gets into position ready for them before they're on the screen, which is why so many of the bullets are being cancelled.

The above article says that the bullets are added to the meter if you "pick them up" after they've turned to souls. Do we know if that's accurate? From watching videos I can't tell whether they need to be picked up or if the bullets just need to be turned to be added to the meter.
