YES!!! This looks awesome!

I'm totally stoked. Also, hi guys, long time, no see. XD

I may have gotten Deathsmiles recently, but this... THIS!!! This gameplay vid from the location test site makes me incredibly excited. "PORTPORTPORT", indeed!

BOSS SUMMON PLANES, GOOOO! Also, I was greatly amused by Boss 2 throwing the helicopters, and the craaaazy bullet patterns. I like, I like very much~

Also, now we know that that "change character/plane mode" looks like- apparently its your plane turning into... the pilot? Too early to know what's going on here, exactly?

Looks very nice. The whole giant people as bosses thing is a bit weird, but whatever. I do feel like the fact that this is a hori is somewhat of a concession to the console market. Horis sell better on consoles, so for the sake of the inevitable port, a game that looks like it ought to be a vert is rotated 90 degrees. Maybe it's just my preconceptions of what I think a vert and a hori should play like, but it just looks a bit strange to me seeing this sort of gameplay in a hori. Then again, I say the same thing about Progear.

Giant people? Or itty-bitty planes?

I'm kidding... although you can't quite rule it out, in a way. When the player does the mode-change, the character is bigger than his plane... odd.

This does look exciting. I hope someone gets the rest of the game up later today. I'd like to see how many stages it has.

Backgrounds look like they're out of Ketsui and Progear, I thought.

Hopefully, this won't take too long to be out on the 360.

Looks very interesting, although it has kind of an odd perspective for a horizontal shmup.
I keep my fingers crossed that this is coming to Xbox360.

I was somewhat satisfied. The game looks really like Progear 2. I was also curious about the system and later stages.

Awesome! Love the Pro-Gear/Metal Slug/Ketsui vibe. The design of bosses is soso...crazy machines would have been more fitting and could have resulted in an early buy for me...

i just came back from taito hey where the test was being held and i have to admit - it looks awesome. i haven't played it myself as it looked very difficult and there was a waiting line for at least an hour.

it uses 4 buttons on the arcade - one is the normal shoot button, then bomb and then there are two for changing from a plane to the pilot and changing the colour of the sphere around.

you have this flying orb around your ship (i think you control it's position by stopping to shoot and moving your ship) - when it touches enemy bullets those bubbles appear with an "e" in them (energy ?). when you stop shooting your ship devours those bubbles and your meter fills up.

then you can change the mode into those "sphere types" - as you can see on the youtube movie one sphere reflects enemy bullets (the blue one), the second has a shortrange very stronge burst which is more powerful than your normal weapon. the meter i mentioned above decreases when you are in this sphere mode.

when i was watching it it seemed like a very difficult shooter to play. as you have 4 buttons you have to do a lot of stuff and changing between those spheres in some places where you have a shitstorm of bullets on the screen must be very confusing.

the japanese still rocked hard. i think i saw the first person finishing the game around 4 pm, but maybe someone got it earlier. it was in normal mode tough and i guess they will add a difficulty selector afterwards.

I felt similar about the bosses. However, they look like they may be designed well, but the video just isn't clear enough. The second one looks like she may have a good design. The graphics of the game are certainly sharp.

It appears very promising; again I agree about the above comments on glow-ball boss characters... Giant glowing people not exactly my thing, but seems well done at least.

It appears to be a little less polished than dfk, but also a little more tasteful/restrained.

Loving the militaristic bent to the style; very welcome.

Thats what I thought too. The backgrounds look top-down even though it's scrolling left to right and showing the side of the plane. Regardless of the odd perspective, it looks promising. Bullet patterns looked cool and the option shot reminds me of Ketsui. I'm looking forward to a port.

EDIT: Also, what do you think are the chances are they start using prerendered backgrounds? I can't really tell from the video but the backgrounds were the graphical weaknesses of the ports, so it would make sense for them to do something they could render in hi definition like the characters and enemies.
Feedback will set you free.

I agree with you guys. When I first aw the youtube video I was shocked because from a perspective view point it looks like a vertical shooting but it is very well implemented with the action.
I really hope a soon home port since DS IIX has been ported so quick.

Add me to the list of people shocked by prespective. It almost looks like the background is isometric.

And the big explosions look like they are from Deathsmiles, but honestly how many explosions and bullets can there be in the world:?
I agree the perspective is off, but really, it all just sort of adds to the weirdness. Plane turns into giant man... while fighting giant boss people.. with even larger planes flying at strange angles in the background.
I loved Gigawing, so the reflect barrier.. which sounds sort of involved here, definitely intrigues me.
Making an action platformer with a transforming grappling hook: ChainStaff. Also made a shmup with multi-ships: Shoot 1UP DX, and more .

No one is going to know what the hell i'm talking about, but there's a scene in "Puma Man" from MST3K, where Puma Man is dropping a bad guy, and they go "help, i'm falling at a 60 degree angle breaking all the laws of physics!".

It's at 3:47 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUzGjY6U ... re=related

That's what came to mind when I saw the angle the backgrounds are in.

It's not a complaint, that's just what came to mind.

lol'd, nice link

Oh yeah, impressions of the footage. I dunno what video was linked earlier, I just youtubed Akai Katana when I got up this morning. The scrolling didn't look fucked up to me, but maybe you guys are looking at a different part/stage than I remember. So called the progearsui-2 shit, btw. I can't wait to give it a spin, though it looks as though it may be a bit on the complicated side. I mean, Raizing games are complicated, but you only have to be worrying about one or two things at a time, usually.
