If we get more games localized, that's great. It's just the limbo between the region locked JPN release and the tenuous, mostly unlikely announcement of a publisher picking it up domestically.

If they don't know who Nelson Mandela is I'd be surprised.littlenemo wrote:If by any chance, the responsible for the petition didn't know what historical figure nelson mandela was, and added your tag to the petition, that would certainly discredit it completely.
Now you have the right to be cynical and to ignore practical solutions to give your infos and still keeping them private, among those I provided, to think that this petition is as useless as asking a professional forum troll to be polite, but at least please be respectful of those who spend time and energy bringing such initiatives concrete, wether you approve them or not.
PS : I do have a jap 360 , strange world isn't it ?
I'm not raining on your guys parade, I do sincerely hope that the games are region free. Do I think that this list will positively impact the decision? Not a jot.
At the top of the shmups page is a link called 'members', if you click that you can copy down few thousand forum handles and in most cases, locations too (if not you could just make them up) and that would bolster the size of the petition ten-fold.
Why do you even need to ask permission? Forum handles and locations mean nothing anyway, so you might as well copy the lot, or make up ten thousand on the spot and send those. It will look stronger than the hundred odd you've gotten so far.
Anyways, hope that makes some kind of sense. I know it's all for a great cause and I hope it's successful, but the actual collecting of names like 'Skykid/UK' is about as concrete as 'Cyberdash/CA/US', which I just pulled out of my ass.

What starts to worry me though, is the US port of Deathsmiles issue, I think we should be more specific about wich version should be region free, something like region freeing games after their hypothetical localization, but even that is complicated.
There's a lot of examples out there of japanese games localized only for the US, and I completely understand that financially speaking, Cave would have no interest in free regioning games, then having them localized but what's going to happen if :
- US sales are good and they decide to localize deathsmiles for EU and the rest of the world (no Region Free needed nor wanted)
- US sales suck and no localization for other countries (Region Free needed and financially interesting)
That means for us that we have to wait for all this ramdam to happen before a decision is taken, all of that said hypothetically of course.
More than that I think that Cave is seeking for the best solution out there and is trying different approaches (free region Futari 1.5, then try the localization style etc...) well aware of the world's interest for their products but I'm sure that, if not for free regioning all of their games, eventually someone will be left apart if they go on the localization road (and I'm quite sure it will be, once again EU and other countries beside the US that will suffer the more)
A Steam solution would answer all of these questions though but are they ready for the big jump ....^^?

on the page before, I do totally agree on that point with you, but as I understand it, people are starting to give more informations via private messages.I am, like many of you, very reluctant at giving personal infos on public forums, I might say I am even more paranoid regarding that subject to the point I don't have a Facebook page, nor a my space page etc etc...
That doesn't change the fact that a petition cannot be honestly taking seriously if you don't have minimum authenticity to it by giving minimum infos : I could as well forge a petition of 2 billions fake names and mail addresses, that petition wouldn't have a slightest impact upon Cave's mind ,and unfortunately, this is starting to look a bit like that...
Now what I suggest, and this is exactly what I did on shmup.com, is sending your personal infos to Jimjuku via private message, infos wich be shown only on the final mail to Cave , I can appeal to his discretion and loyalty (my pseudo on shmup.com if you want to check is Jehuda), it will be more complicated for him to regroup everything but by doing that, we will definitely attach more credibility to the petition.

Any game that's easier to play and access, I'm that much more likely to buy.

This wouldn't be a problem if CAVE released their games on PS3.
