On stage 1 you get 50k instead of the 10k you get for A. Multiplied by your rank, it's a nice extra 200-240k points. I'm not sure if this is static all the way through, haven't paid much attention (and haven't ever gotten S on a later boss).

Good, my current score is better than yours.

I think it's all down to medalling, as in my best run so far, I only managed to perfect the 1st level (But got 3 S ranks, and only lost my 1st life on stage 6... but then it was all downhill from there

)

I could only beat the 6th boss after I practiced a lot on it using save states. Some of his later patterns are really nasty.

I have a hard time collecting all the medals without also collecting some bullets, so I don't think I'll be getting an amazing score.
