Awesome news mate! If I hadn't just heard that a good friend is getting married, that would be the best news I've heard all day!

AND IT'S DONE! :D

Finally wrapped the JP 1CC this morning before work, and I'm on cloud 9. Did it with lives to spare too, but all at the detriment of score. I didn't bother to record it cos it was only in the 12 mils and I've scored much higher. I was just about conserving lives which meant low risk play and plenty of bombs. But god damn it, I did it. Finally.

Damn, whatta game. :P

probably my last score on this one. had two spare lives during the stage 4 boss fight, and the phone rang. lost two lives in quick succession while whoever it was wouldn't hang up. don't think i've ever sworn so loudly in my life

lol.

That's how it goes, though. MF'ers always find a way to knock on the door in the middle of a good run, call the house, etc.

Anyways- updated the (3?) scores.

Welp, I guess I haven't really "retired" myself from playing Progear or shmups in general because I've been playing this for a month, and just managed to beat sikraiken's score.

Thanks, Plasmo. :)

It's the second time I've beaten sikraiken's score, so it's definitely quite an accomplishment because he is truly a gifted and skilled player. I don't doubt that he can and will demolish my score easily without any problems. I wish I was as good at shooters as he is, but the reality of it is that I've dedicated my time on playing Progear and nothing else. :P (My girlfriend isn't too pleased about that, because she wishes the time I spent on it was on her instead of "that stupid game.")

I'm not even sure if I want to keep playing and raising the bar. I think I'm about to hit the proverbial "wall" pretty soon if I keep trying to improve my score.

The best strategy to please the gf is to play only 1-2 credits a day and not more. The new highscore will come sooner or later and you're not spending too much too much time on that "stupid game". The important thing is to keep going, it has to be a routine like breakfast or something. The gf will accept that.

Thank you, Ex-Goku.

As for video replay, I do not have access or possess video recording equipment. :( So pictures from my cellphone will have to do for now....

Haha, yeah, maybe I need to do 1-2 credits a day instead of 4-5 credits a day then! :P

I've been playing Progear for 4 years. The first 3 years were on and off thing, but had steady improvements during that time, then I went on a hiatus for a long time until last year when I was dealing with some stuff in real life. After I had achieved two goals: 2-ALL'ing and beating sikraiken's score; I went on another break again because I was way too burned out from playing it consistently for 6 months. I started playing it again recently when my friend let me borrow his PCB again, and I figured I'd give it another shot and so there it is: a new western record and another ALL clear from me. :P

Awesome score AB, 2 lives spare is an amazing achievement given how hard the loop is. Congrats :D

Ok!

What about recording something with WolfMame than ? It can be a great idea, i really want to see the way you go trough the game (it's one i like the most).

I know, there are such big problems for pcb players (i've some pcb too and i can only take photos from TV) but there is every time a solution! :P

If you can satisfy me, i'm curious on your partial score too. (stage x,y,z; not all stages, obviosly. Only the scores you remember).

Thanks a lot.

Wow - AB - that's awesome! Congratulations!

Glad to see you back too. I've had my own hiatus from Progear after a humble ordinary 1CC, just chucking in the odd credit every now and then with Mr_m0nks.

Hearing plasmo talking about brief regular play - I really need to get my suicide battery sitution sorted on my PCB...

Maybe.... But I just cannot go back to MAME after playing the PCB version. I cannot deal with the input lag when playing MAME at all, so if I played it on MAME, I would have to completely change my playing skills and that could take a long time to get it down for a 2-ALL run.

If I were to produce a replay, I would very much prefer it recorded from the PCB, since I have invested a lot of my time into it and developing my play style without input lag.

Edit: Another thing, I'm playing with joystick, not a pad. So that's another issue that I have if I wanted to record a replay through MAME.

My friend's going to have to explain to his wife why he lost $250 when he gets home tonight. Oh well, that's what he gets for betting against me.... :)
