Still no ALL

At least I managed to get Risk Storage's tail, though. Apparently that thing is worth insane points.
Really? That would explain a lot. I thought there was some system to get them at 50,000 or some shit. Oh well, I just learned Risk Storage's tail is worth a shit load of points. So I am going to try and take care of that first. That and try to save my bombs. Damn Neon Light Illusion always takes at least one from me.sikraiken wrote:Good luck with that, they seem random as far as I could tell. : )Ayanami wrote:collecting the silver medals at the proper time
It always changes. Not really sure based on what (yet).Zebra Airforce wrote:Collecting them during a certain part of the spin is what does it. It's somewhere around the top right. I have a timing for the first one in the game, but after that I don't really care.Ayanami wrote:Really? That would explain a lot. I thought there was some system to get them at 50,000 or some shit. I tried messing with the video settings but it always ran slow and looked fuzzy (command line WolfMAME is easier - I just pass the "-nofilter" argument to remove the blur, although it runs smooth either way). Regardless, my issue is that "Draw Every Frame" is a dumb default, yet it seems to be the default for the various MAME GUIs. If your computer runs the game at, say, 90%, the game might be fast enough that you wouldn't know it's slow (assuming you've never played it before), yet slow enough to give you a minor edge. I'm not losing any sleep over it or anything, but it is something to think about.ED-057 wrote:Press F8 during the game to cycle through frameskip settings. Under mame32/plus one might also try setting 320x240, no hardware stretch, and triple buffering to get better speed.Davey wrote:For example, the i686 command line MAME can run this game at 170-180% on my computer, whereas it runs at only 70-75% with MAME32Plus (and the fact that it defaults to "Draw Every Frame" instead of autoskipping bothers me, especially in a tournament setting, since it actually slows down the game instead of making it choppy).
Any i686 (or P4) optimized build should work well. I don't think any compiler optimizations will exploit multiple cores, though; the MAME code itself would have to be written with that in mind (e.g., multithreading). I could be wrong, though. And if it runs smooth and you already have autofire, just stick with what you have.joystickchris wrote:Which one would be optimized for a core 2 duo? I'm rollin on mame32 0.114u1 and it seems smooth to me. No autofire, but I have my hrap for that..
I've gotten 52k picking it up at a lot of different times. That goes for all Darius games.Macaw wrote:*Note to make this post have purpose* I think the gray bonus icons arnt random, its just that if you collect them when its just rotated past the 3o'clock point (which lasts such a short time I doubt its possibly to get it consistently) then it ends up giving you like 100 points.
I could be wrong, but I'd like to think I'm not.
Maybe each individual bonus item has its own state of when it gives you 52k.zinger wrote:I've gotten 52k picking it up at a lot of different times. Memorizing timing (when to reveal + amount of time to wait before grabbing) for each one is the only possible way to successfully pull it off. The positioning isn't a factor, but can be used as a timing guide.Macaw wrote:Maybe each individual bonus item has its own state of when it gives you 52k.
If so.....pure insanity.
