You should play Strikers 1999. Psikyo never changed their vertical scrolling formula drastically. True, it maybe went a little further than usual (even going as far as changing the bullet color and power up icon a little!), but you see more instances of slow bullet clouds the closer they got to Dragon Blaze. Same with the hitbox size getting smaller and scoring becoming more detailed.Arvandor wrote: Itty bitty hitbox, slow moving bullet clouds (combined with your typical Psikyo lightning patterns), aggressive scoring system. DB is like Psikyo doing Psikyo's impression of a Cave game (which is a beautiful combination in my opinion), and is further from Strikers 1999 than any game I can think of besides the oddballs (Zero Gunners, Sol Divide, etc)
Edit: Wait, n/m, I'm thinking of a different game... I haven't actually tried Strikers 1999 yet. I still agree that Dragon Blaze is the least Psikyo game I've played. Even Zero Gunner 2 feels more like standard Psikyo fair, despite the full rotation deal.
Psikyo games suck because they're all so similar

Yeah, I was just giving it a few runs just now ^_^ I actually HAD played it, but I was confusing it with another WW2 shooter with mech bosses.
I can DEFINITELY see the similarities between Dragon Blaze and Strikers 1999. However, the overall "feel" to the game is completely different. And not just because it's WW2 Mecha vs Medievel Industrial. Dragon Blaze just plays so different from standard Psikyo.

Strikers '99's lack of close range attack makes it a little more traditional in between Gunbird 2 and Dragon Blaze, but it has the same types of patterns and attacks, the rank, bomb strategy, differences between random stages, etc... It is all very similar and familiar to me. Makes each successive Psikyo game easier to clear than the last. Different style of game than I am used to = me struggling hopelessly.Arvandor wrote:Dragon Blaze just plays so different from standard Psikyo.
