Just bought Gunslugs. It was pretty cheap - less than £2. Meant to be pretty good in a retro kind of way...

Edit: aesthetic reminds me of Super Meat Boy, but the game isn't as hard (despite what people say). Soundtrack is pretty ace. I'm already 33xx on the global leaderboards. Not sure if that's a good thing.

Definitely worth the £1.99 price tag...

Just so everyone knows: Target has (this week only?) the Vita down to $169.99 this week, and while the signage says that it's for the Wi-Fi only version, it applies to the Wi-Fi/3G version that I price-scanned today as well. Looks like they, too, may be preparing for the 2000 version.

I need to buy another Vita - just for US content. Plus, it's the Vita. And that's never a bad thing...

There's a sale on US PSN to celebrate Vita's second birthday:

Have £14.66 in PSN credit. Thinking of getting Tearaway (£11.69 in the sale). Or just giving it a miss, and picking up a combination of GoW Ghost of Sparta (£6.49), Resident Evil bundle (£7.23 in the present sale), Ys 1/2 Chronicles (£7.99), Alundra (£3.99) instead at a later date.

Fcuk! Sooooooooooooo many games.

Edit: Fcuk it! I'm buying Tearaway. Going to support bold little ventures such as this... Because £11 isn't exactly rip-off territory for what is ultimately one of the Vita's standout games. And it's the Vita after all. Because Vita means Life!

Was down at the local Target store today 2-26-2014, and saw that the Wi-Fi version of the PSVita was priced at $199.99 USD -- shall go back and inquire if it's being sold at that lower pricepoint. Thanks for the heads up about this info. I did not see the W-Fi/3G variant Vitas in stock though. Looking through the locked glass display where the Vitas are kept, Target's still selling the prized Vita-1000 models being sold currently at retail -- at most local Target retail locations that I visited during the 2013 X-Mas shopping season, they weren't available to purchase.

Of course, Best Buy was selling the Wi-Fi/3G Vitas (that came bundled with an 8GB Vita memory card) at the same asking price of $169.99 USD during the 2013 Black Friday week...still not a bad deal anyways.

Makes me wonder if SCEA will distribute the PSVita TV and/or the 64GB Vita memory cards stateside for 2014?

My local Target sold out of everything but 1 Batman 2 bundle.

As an aside, I picked up a $99 PSP Go at Toys-R-Us over the weekend and like it FAR more than I thought I would. It's super nice.

Yeah, they're still very, very available. I still cannot even fathom why anyone, anywhere would pay more than, say, $20 for one. It's one really ridiculous paperweight as far as I'm concerned.

The only particularly crap thing about getting a Go is that it uses M2 memory instead of MSDuo [so you can't get a $6 converter and a cheap 32GB MicroSD card to hold your games, instead having to spend a fair chunk of change for a 32GB M2 card].
Worth more than $20, but certainly not worth the $80 they go for on Amazon.

At least, if you've owned a PSP before and dumped all your games [and if you haven't, why? UMD load times are awful] or downloaded them all off the internet, regardless of whether you had a PSP before or not.

...and damn, I need a new PSP -- not being able to get PSP games on the Vita apart from PSN downloads is depressing, such a tiny selection and slightly higher prices than I'm willing to pay...

I need to figure out how to dump my UMD's. I think I used to know but it's been years.

Does the Go need to be modded to play UMD dumps? It would be a lot better than using my old PSP1000. Regarding availability, the PSP3000 is way easier to get than the Go in my area.

You can CFW any model PSP nowadays [maybe not with the permanent patch, but it takes like 3 seconds to re load it when cold-booting the PSP], and it's almost a completely painless process. As for dumping UMDs, change the USB target in the select button menu at the XMB to ISO9660. Pop a UMD in the drive, plug the PSP into a computer and copy the ISO.

and now you don't have to be a pirate to have ISOs to load :D

There's a way to do it entirely on the device without a PC, but I don't know it off the top of my head.

PSP Go has bluetooth and supports DS3 controllers and TV out. In combination with CFW (and a grip) it's a neat device.

The Go's controls are more functional than I would have thought. That being said, I wish it was all scaled up so that the display was the same size as the original PSP.

So that's FFX, Luftrausers, Fez and Borderlands 2 ALL in the space of 1-2 months.

I keep telling you folks... 2014 is the year of the Vita.

Actually...I'm prone to agree with you as these titles do look intriguing. I'd never heard of Luftrausers until now, and it looks pretty intense. Wonder if the controls will do it justice.

I remember Rami showcasing Luftrausers at Eurogamer Expo nearly 2 years ago, and it was on the basis of that game that I actually took the time out to interview him. Pretty nice guy. Outspoken too.

Steamworld Dig coming in 2 weeks. Doesn't really appeal to me, but I guess that just 1 more game to fill your collection with.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014- ... -two-weeks

The Vita is certainly on a roll. And we're not even 1/4 of the way through 2014 yet...

Edit:
Pixel Junk Shooter Ultimate also coming out? Sign me up.

Anyone know what "Akiba's Trip" is about? It's being published by XSeed and looks like some kind of zombie porno...

Edit: it looks like some kind of 3D beat em up. Personally, it doesn't appeal to me. But man, some people are going crazy over this.

Yeah, I checked out a few gameplay videos last night. Not my bag.

The following however, is definitely my bag. More Shahid talk, leading me to say more positive things about the Vita in a Zen like manner. Maybe.

Anyone else playing Toukiden? I just reached Chapter 4 myself.

Also playing Project Diva, which just became available on US PSN. Its no DJ Max, but I am having a good time with it so far. Not sure I get "petting" your Diva stars, but whatever

Got around to finishing Danganronpa. Very worth it, and thankfully unlike other visual novels it's short and without multiple bad endings to fall into (there's one, which shows you a video and then instantly rewinds and allows you to make the choice again).

Reaction based gameplay was just annoying (I set everything to highest difficulty), but the logic based stuff was so much better than something like Ace Attorney.

Even if I was the sort who was all for getting PSN trophies, I don't think I could live with myself having to pet Kaito until I get his happiness trophy.

if there's one thing that bugs the shit out of me about this game, Hard charts aren't available from the start, and having to do the Normal ones first is kind of lame

Finished this one myself recently, and as someone too stupid to stand a chance at most "solve the mystery" type games was pleasantly surprised; for whatever it's worth I only got "really" stuck at one point late in the game, and was able to continue easily until I figured it out (this might be a negative factor for someone better at this stuff than me, but for a neophyte it was appreciated). I also liked the bits of arcade elements inserted into the trials to give you a break from just reading text all the time (though hopefully they're polished more in the sequel), and found myself unexpectedly eager to see where things went next, despite not everything making sense even at the end. The silly "simulation" mode unlocked after finishing is only worth playing through once, but so is the main game, for the most part: unfortunately you can't change either the language or the difficulty upon starting a "new game plus" wherein you can unlock extras you missed, which kills the impetus further. Overall, though, glad I decided to take a chance on it.

Was browsing at the local Target yesterday, 3-12-2014, and passed by the PSVita hardware section, the remaing 1000-series Wi-Fi Vita hardware inventory with OLED screen is priced at $179.99 (regular MSRP is $199.99 USD) from March 9th until March 22nd, 2014 (and is priced at $169.99 if you use a Target Red Card with the cool 5% off promo deal incentive).

Still no word when SCEA will distibute/sell the new 2000-series PSVita hardware stateside.
