The way I solved this should work on Sony Trinitron as long as it has two scart inputs. I simply connected two scart cables from the gscart to my TV scart input AV1 and AV2. RGB is only supported on AV1 and AV2 is composite only. Now I can switch between AV1 (RGB) and AV2 (composite) using the TV remote. It is not automatic but simple enough (and of course it requires that sync regen is off).arithmaldor wrote:I believe Superg has said that pin 16 on the outputs always outputs 5v 500mA in case you need to power something like an RGB to component board etc. In your case this would force your TV into RGB mode always, even when you are just sending composite video on pin 20.
The only solution I can think to having both is to install a switch in one end of your male male scart cable (spst) that disconnects pin 16 from your TV, switching it to composite video mode (=0V). Not sure of any way to do this automatically.

Hey!
I have my gscart - scart output connected to my framemeister and to my capture card. and would like to connect the Vga output to my Beovision TV(which has scart rgb in). I have searched far and wide for a Vga male to scart male cable. Anyone know a solution? :/
Thanks in advance

Correct, I guess it works. But I already bought the RGB modded N64, and as I saw that the picture quality is better in RGB, I guess I'll try like that. I'll come back later for the feedback.
thanks everyone

Going from your gscart 3.4 VGA output to an RGB input on your TV isn't just a matter of adapting the physical connector. The VGA out carries sync in RGBHV form while Scart inputs expect RGBS.
For that purpose, the dual Scart outputs of the gscart lite would be ideal.
Also: You seem to have split the Scart out already, feeding both your Framemeister and your capture card. Why not simply split it a third time?

gscartsw v3.4 has a switch which toggles between RGBHV and RGBS modes specifically for VGA connector.hyne wrote:Going from your gscart 3.4 VGA output to an RGB input on your TV isn't just a matter of adapting the physical connector. Yes theres the switch to choose rgbs. Then a Vga to scart cable would be possible? Bummer I cant find one where the signal goes in that direction..
My framemeister goes directly into the capture card and ive been using pass thru signal to play on hdmi monitor, ive not splitted the scart, sorry for the confusion

You can get one from retro_console_accessories: http://www.ebay.com/itm/15-pin-RGBS-VGA ... 2ef8684b6bRunningbo4rd wrote: Yes theres the switch to choose rgbs. Then a Vga to scart cable would be possible? Bummer I cant find one where the signal goes in that direction..

Hello, I too am anxiously waiting for the extra batch to be available, both for gscartsw_lite and gcompsw. I know to check this thread for updates. Once the units become available, will they be available through the website or do we need to post in this thread to secure a unit?FBX wrote:I'm in the same boat as chromium, so you'll definitely get more business.superg wrote:There will be a batch later for sure but at this point I don't have any schedule.chromium wrote:Got my gscartsw_lite and now realised I should've ordered a gcompsw as well.

Check your TV manual, but it may require 5v on the SCART input to switch to RGB mode unless there is an option to manually switch. I don't think that there is 5v out supplied on the 3.4 VGA out, and even if there is I doubt the pins are connected on the retroconsoleaccessories cable. I would suggest using that RCA cable to go into a female SCART to 8 pin framemeister adapter into the framemeister and then just a straight male to male SCART cable into the TV.Runningbo4rd wrote:superg wrote:You can get one from retro_console_accessories: http://www.ebay.com/itm/15-pin-RGBS-VGA ... 2ef8684b6bRunningbo4rd wrote: Yes theres the switch to choose rgbs. There is +5V on v3.4 VGA connector.arithmaldor wrote: Check your TV manual, but it may require 5v on the SCART input to switch to RGB mode unless there is an option to manually switch. And retroconsoleaccessories hooks up that wire on all her cables.superg wrote:There is +5V on v3.4 VGA connector.arithmaldor wrote: Check your TV manual, but it may require 5v on the SCART input to switch to RGB mode unless there is an option to manually switch. Is there a mailing list or something so I can be notified when the Gscart Lite or gcompsw go on preorder again? I'm extremely interested, but would rather not make this thread my home page!

Hi, I'm back for N64 "missing picture issue" debriefing.
I received today my RGB modded N64 and everything is working fine with !
So my "european setup" is perfectly working now with 4 consoles :
- Master System (PAL)
- NES (both PAL and NTSC)
- SNES (PAL)
- RGB modded N64 (PAL)
One gwscart-lite output directly to RGB TV input (sound volume at 00%)
One gwscart-lite output to only audio RCA then to my 2.1 (sub + speakers)
Great picture, great sound, autoswitch, thanks to you superG !!
Last quesiton here... I wonder with years (or less maybe) if it's possible to some dust to enter inside the gwscart, like between the two plastic pieces and may be a problem one day..?
See ya !

You can do what I did, which is select "Subscribe" on the top of the page. I get e-mails everytime someone posts in the thread, so I'll know right when to check to see if it's time to put in my order. It's kind of annoying, but not a big hassle.GigaBoots wrote:Is there a mailing list or something so I can be notified when the Gscart Lite or gcompsw go on preorder again? awesome, hopefully this time i can buy one in time
I already have the gscartsw but it's all full! snes, megadrive, saturn, dreamcast, pc-engine, n64, msx, fmtowns
currently my analogue nt mini has to run via hdmi, would be awesome to try rgb with that aswell. so I'm gonna need another gscartsw.

Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
I'm having a strange gscart lite issue when sync regeneration is switched on while using a Master System 1 (connected to an OSSC). The console has Arcade TV's THS7314 bypass board installed. I'm using a stock Genesis/MS cable from retrogamingcables.co.uk (it has 470ohm resistor and 220uF cap on Csync line). Resistors and capacitors on the bypass board have been removed for RGBS lines as these are in the cable SCART end.
With sync regen on, the OSSC only accepts the signal sometimes, other times it freaks out and won't sync. With sync regen turned off, or connected directly to OSSC it works fine every boot. Sync regen works with all my other consoles, it's only this SMS that's giving me trouble.
Here's a quick video I took with sync regeneration on, if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FwqSZhX6-A
Any ideas?

Doesn't the SMS have a weird incomplete sync signal to begin with? Maybe it's conflicting with the sync regen processing?
