I wish the PM export feature actually gave me a usable format for archival purposes. Last I tried, it didn't. Pretty sure I've lost details of some interesting PCB purchases and the like as a result.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Did you try exporting them as XML? That gives out a pretty clear and easy-to-read file.

CD images that are ECM'd inside a .7z, inside another .7z. Or any overly excessive compression really.
Doublezipping is somewhat fine [it's effectively making your archive "solid", more prone to corruption, but smaller], triple compressing, not so much.
Usenet style archives [split 50MB piece RARs] on not-Usenet sites are also annoying as hell.

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Agreed on the general point, but ECM is a bad example; it's specifically designed to be used with another compressor.null1024 wrote:CD images that are ECM'd inside a .7z, inside another .7z. Or any overly excessive compression really.

Damn bittorrent keeps giving a "disk overloaded 100%" problem and the stupid thing stops downloading stuff! I have to delete and re-download. UGH!

Nowhere near as hot as that thankfully, but in this country once it gets much above the low 20's it becomes stifling and uncomfortable. I believe it was the high 20's yesterday, with more of the same tody.jonny5 wrote:How hot is it there? We hit 45celcius with the humidex the other day! Temperate climate my ass!
I think if it hit 45c over here I would keel over and die

Well, that, and the attitude seen in some corners that their time isn't worth being helpful and respectful to others, but who still are thoughtless enough with their own time to waste it telling other people to, for example, commit suicide. Call me old-fashioned but that doesn't seem good, or even consistent (although the bitching about Shmups Forum's perceived lack of quality has been getting pretty predictably constant from those same general quarters, too).

I hear that. I had to shave my beard off a couple weeks ago because it was getting too hot on my ride to and from work.drauch wrote:Amen to that. It's been fucking 90-95 for weeks now. Do you ever just reach that point of the status quo being misery? I think of it like when it's raining and you try and avoid getting wet, but once you reach that point of being soaked it just doesn't matter anymore. That's like... every summer in Phoenixmoh wrote:I work in a warehouse with no AC. I'm fucking melting.jonny5 wrote:How hot is it there? We hit 45celcius with the humidex the other day! Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Recently my phone was receiving 2 ads a day via push notifications, which are really annoying. With every ad there's a message saying: "opt out at website xxx".
So I head to website xxx and it tells you: "to stop receiving ads, install the app below"
To make things worse, the app is not licensed by android market, meaning it's not safe. The website conveniently teaches you how to disable the app protection option on your phone to install it.
And at the bottom of the page, it says: "in case you do not want to install the app, go to website yyy and inform your phone's serial number".
Fuck you. That's downright criminal.
Googling a bit, I found that one of the apps I installed recently was responsible for those push notification ads. I uninstalled it and the problem went away.
I feel sorry for gullible, non-tech savvy people who will surely fall for those scams.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Surprisingly, I made it through a lot of the hot days without AC on (hooray for basements, heh). Right now we've had a few relatively cool days. Right now it's 72 degrees outside. It'll be hot later, and I still think we're officially in a drought, though.
Does Google or anybody have the right to pull apps from the Android Marketplace? Not that this would be the ideal solution (lol Apple) but it would have somebody in charge to enforce a TOS. I guess that's what the platform is meant to avoid, huh?Ruldra wrote:Googling a bit, I found that one of the apps I installed recently was responsible for those push notification ads. Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Not sure. I suppose I could try reporting it, but I don't really think anything will be done about it. It's a free app with this spam thing hidden inside.Ed Oscuro wrote:Does Google or anybody have the right to pull apps from the Android Marketplace? EDIT: Apparently this form of ad is perfectly legal and some people are making good money from it, so yeah, all you can do is stay away from apps that have leadbolt hidden in it.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
something thats been bothering me lately is people who are unwilling to understand that accidents happen. I mean, it seems like everybody is always a "fucking idiot" when they cut you off while driving, but can you stop to think that maybe they didn't see you? yes, its still their fault, but this is not an uncommon mistake.. this is just a single example, but the idea is there. people make mistakes, and they make a lot of them.
I feel that the average person needs to be just a tad more considerate.
