Both of these are your rank.
You are #1600 when taking into account both Palm and Reco, and #800 on the character specific scoreboard.

That's really helpful mate, thanks. I'm surprised I'm that high - clearly the game didn't sell too well

If I recall correctly, leaderboard entries only last for so long before being cleared, and the game came out almost a year ago now. That could explain why the boards are a bit sparse.

Not true. Only weekly/monthly boards are cleared (weekly/monthly). All other boards are permanant, or unless a patch requires them to be reset. IIRC there have been no patches for Futari, so the leaderboards for this game have never been cleared.

Game did not sell millions like Halo, so you have to keep that in mind. Not sure what the total number of entries are, but most leaderboards these days let you see this at the top. So you can tell if you are 800/1000 or 800/857. Its pretty common for shooters to only have a few thousand people on the leaderboards.

Yeah they've never been cleared. Though looking at how the boards breakdown I can offer some better explainations:

- You must play in Score Attack to post a score. Perhaps a lot of players just the regular mode.
- The game just has a lot of discrete leaderboards so not everyone plays on all of them. If i remember correctly they are:

I wish these Cave games had the Xbox dash feature that most XBLA games have where there's a Friends leaderboard, but usually made up of some sort of tally of your overall performance. They could have tallied up a total of all your top scores or something similar.

There are also a large amount of people who do not have Xbox Live, but have a 360 and shmups, both abroad and inside Japan. Not everyone cares or wants to buy an extra Ethernet cable, and the 360 doesn't include wireless by default. There's also some other factors, like their router being across the other side of the house.

Trying to calculate sales figures from online rankings is just pointless.

Well you can always compare yourself to the high score thread if you want a better comparison. And i'm sure you're no more shite than i am.

That's not it, just trying to give you something to reference.

Very true, you should post your scores here too. We have some stiff competition :)

Last night I figured out that Futari doesn't list the total number of submissions to the leaderboards like ESPGaluda2 or Deathsmiles, so that is kinda lame. At least I couldn't find it-correct me if im spazzing, I'd actually like to find this. With the other two games I mentioned it's in the top right of the leaderboard rankings. I guess the differences is because Cave ported ESP2 and DS themselves and Futari was done by M2.

Also, switching between DS, Futari, ESP2, Ketsui and DDP DOJ:Blex, they all have different menu systems, visual settings and what not. gets a bit confusion especially in ESP2 when you have remapped your buttons because the main menu still uses the default, but the game mode menus use your custom key configuration. I guess my point is I wish they could all had the same options and settings worked the same way. Heck I wish zoom worked the same for all the verts. Futari plays fine in vert @ 1280x1024, but EPS2 does some aspect ratio funkiness at that res. I have to run esp2 @ 1024x768 to get around it. In futari you have the frame settings like PCB/Fast etc and I don't think those are in the other games. I know they were ported by 3 different companies, at least 4 different teams and released all at separate times, but I wish they could find the ideal setup and have all the games use it uniformly.(silly wish I know).

That aside I played some 1.5 Original for the first time in a long while. While the scoring system came back to me fast, I got swatted like a fly on the wall. I blame it in part because my sync settings were set for an LCD initially, but really I'm rusty as well.

Just a quick question on Futari on general (probably asked lots of times before): what does Reco actually scream when she dies and what sounds like "panamaaa" ?

I always assumed she is screaming Palm's name, just like Palm always screams Reco's.

As far as I'm aware we're still just speculating at this point.

I think it's canonic by this point that Reco has a really bad case of sinusitis. I wouldn't be able to distort the sound so badly even if I had my nose held up.

But she's no different when she's in joy. Consider yourself in Palm's shoes: there's a busty girl flying together with you in revealing clothes, oozing promiscuity, with a nose chockful of pus preventing her from articulating even your name clearly. I'd feel uneasy.

If you were to draw what I just pictured in my head and carry it through a British airport you'd be in jail.

Though, I hear it as "palmahh" anyway. :?:

"Palm" rendered in katakana is "parumu", so that's how a Japanese person would pronounce it.

What's this about Reco having a bad sinus infection?
I'm still coming back to this allot. Mostly 1.5 original, I really like the fifth stage except for that fat pig of a boss Larsa.. Last night I played a round of God Novice mode, actually would like to think that even with the auto bomb this ends up being a fairly balanced mode as far as the difficulty of trying for a clear on it.
