I'm still of the party that thinks LCDs aren't up to CRT's level of clarity. They've been focusing on getting bigger - not better. But yes, they're nice. I've played stuff through my XRGB2 on an LCD and it's nice.

CRTs still beat LCDs in terms of response time, and that can be important in games like this.

There are a lot of nice lcds that can rival the CRT picture but you're right. Until SED or OLED or AMOLED happen. We'll have to twiddle our thumbs until the alternative comes out.

Okay, so I've just settled down for an intimate evening in with DDP DOJ Extra and Shooting Love 200X only to find I have a bit of a screen display problem. Both games seem to have massive borders on the top and bottom (or the sides when tate'd) of the screen. It's as if the 360 is displaying them in widescreen.

My 360 is running through a 4:3 CRT monitor and is set to 4:3 on the dash board which displays perfectly. I have every other tate 360 shmup and they all display perfectly in 4:3 mode, displaying a full frame picture when overscan has been adjusted. I have set DDP DOJ Extra to 4:3 in the options and I can't see an option for that in Shooting Love 200X.

How are other people running the games here? Have you managed to get a full screen tate picture on a 4:3 monitor? Maybe there's something glaringly obvious that I'm missing but I'm really drawing a blank here. Help would be much appreciated.

If you've already set overscan to 100%, try reducing the display resolution of your 360 to its lowest setting.

Well what do you know... problem solved I guess. It's a shame I have to limit it to 640x480 but at least it's full screen now. Thanks for the reply. :D

So we are 1 month post-release without even an elementary patch on this game to fix basic glitches or for instance give us a workable practice mode.

It took Capcom four months to patch HD Remix, despite having at least ten times as many customers breathing down their neck.

Does anyone know of a good place to import a JP 360 to the UK? I've found one on ebay, but it's like £360 inc. shipping just for an Arcade unit

Supposedly an update is coming, but in the meantime they're halting shipments.

Interesting, and a bit surprising.

I can definitely verify what Ashcraft is saying there about DOJBL filling up bins. At both my local sofmaps, there are 5-10 copies in the discount bin near the counter, all marked down to 4000 yen. That's...bad. Raiden IV USED is still pushing 4500 even at the cheapest places I know.

I have to wonder if 5pb management finally sat down with all the bugs and realized what a broken product they put out. It also seems like 5pb will try to handle this in a patch. When the fuck that will be out no one's saying...

Just keeping a running tab...:

1. Ero-game company takes on port of shooting game that requires precise timing.
2. They delay it.
3. They release it. It's massively fucked up (nearly to the point of unplayability IMO).
4. After a week or so they apologize and promise to address these problems. The shitty programmer who fucked it all up shuts down his blog, which could at least been a good window for updates on the patch etc.
5. They take down all movies of the game posted anywhere but their lag-ridden flash site for the game.
6. They stop shipments of the game and issue another vague statement about a patch that has no details whatsoever.

To be continued.

They might have realised that a heafty patch will be required to fix everything. Maybe even replacing the whole of the main game executable (or whatever the equivalent is in 360-jargon). This would make the decision to pull it from shelves obvious - they want shelf copies to contain the updated code so not all owners of the game will have to download the large update. If all sounds very costly. I can't imagine they are even going to break even after all this messing about + the costs of acquiring the license to port the game in the first place.

Whose betting that Ketsui will see a major delay? I don't think they'd dare to release anything that wasn't perfect after this fiasco.

Nah, it will get released. I'd put money on it. I wouldn't count on seeing it until later this year though.
