Absolute brutality on this one. Hell, some things shocked ME, never thought that would happen anymore.
Even in Japan the 70's were ballsy. The shower scene with the glass stabbing was really well done, demonic grin lady was terrifying, even more since she looked like an Asian version of an aunt of mine I'm not fond of!
I need to bookmark these.

Have you watched "Fukushu Suru Ha Ware ni Ari / Vengeance is Mine"? Late 70's... quite brutal. Kinda hard to watch, especially when you realize it's semi biographical.

You guys were right on one thing, Meiko Kaji is just plain good: Barely says a word, yet her face expressions says it all, and never breaks the cold and stoic stare of an assassin with a mission, or a betrayed woman in the worst possible environment. She's also a nice singer, hell, a good singer. It was funny listening to the two songs Tarantino used in Kill Bill in their original setting. Cool stuff. :)

More and more, I begin to think the crazy ass stories in hentai doujin aren't that crazy at all, the Japanese have been doing it many years before.

Oh, for sure. You can always tread down the path of the roman porno wacky softcore films. You're already treading down the pinky violence path, so you're bound to discover some wild stuff (if you want to, haha).

Hanzo is just too bonkers not to love. A guy with a giant penis that he runs through various trials: plowing it through burlap sacks of rice, pouring hot water on it, beating it on a penis-impressed stump. Then he interrogates people with his two ex-con cronies. They use a pully and lower people in a sack down on it and spin them around. The sex is just too good that they have to confess! Bahaha, god, Hanzo is too good.

See, right there! That summary sounds right out of something you would buy at Comiket.

soprano1 if you enjoyed Lady Snowblood and Meiko Kaji I can recommend that you look up Blind Woman's Curse and Wandering Ginza Butterfly 1 and 2. Wandering Ginza Butterfly 2 stars both Meiko Kaji and Sonny Chiba. You could also check out some movies with Reiko Ike, I would recommend Sex and Fury and Female Yakuza Tale - Inquisition and Torture.

Seconded. I've owned Wandering Ginza 1/2 forever but haven't watched 'em, but ohhhhhhh how I love Sex & Fury and Reiko Ike <3.

All of those have been out for many years on DVD, but the last few years have especially been kind to English friendly Japanese releases. Hope this keeps up!

z0mbie90--something I've always wondered but never asked, but now after seeing your taste in movies, is your name perchance based on the hilarious Andreas Schnaas film?

Yes it is, you are one of very few people that asked or make the connection. I guess not many people are aware of that movie :D Most people think that the 90 is representing me being born 1990.

I bet. Same here, I loved that kind of crap, still do I guess, but growing up I learned to appreciate more then just horror, splatter and gore :D
But fun fact about my nickname, there is another reference in it.

Indeed, same here. Gotta have variety!

Hmm... Only thing I can think of is the NotLD remake from 1990?

Good guess, but its not horror related, need to replace the number abit, and you get 009 as in Cyborg 009 which was one of the first anime I watched as a kid :D

I had no idea there's a whole other franchise where the Lone Wolf & Cub guy uses his prodigious hog to solve crimes and get out of jams in morally dubious ways! :o To think I thought I'd seen it all when he nailed that broad to cower a band of brigands into submission, because obviously, what ordinary man could possibly get (let alone maintain!) a rod in such perilous circumstances! Image

I think that's how it all went down? Been a few years. All I know is first he got some tactical diversion pussy, then he MADE EM DIE SCREAMING

"A cut so fine, it produces a whistling like that of the West wind... to think I would hear this sound... coming from my own throat is... ridiculous..."

It is! Cold, too - no good times to be had here! Great movie though. IIRC.

Sheeeit! :o My vintage Japanese samurai murder blade is in a pathetic state, not that it was ever particularly keen to start with. I guess the trick runs in the family? Use the hog to make 'em scream, then use the blade to make them scream?

Oh BIL, I didn't mean THAT kind of dark.

Blind Woman's Curse (1970)
Good one indeed. The final showdown's background's were really well chosen.

It's pretty brutal. Watched when I had a sick day about a year ago. Was it great? Yes, very, but it's not something I ever need to see again.

I have Furyou Anego Den / Sex & Fury queued up. It's a pink film no doubt, but looks pretty dope.

Sitting Pretty - The first movie with Mr. Belvedere. It has been awhile since I have seen the 80s sitcom (though I saw part of it today during break at work), but I don't remember it ever being this funny (from what I remember of the sitcom, it doesn't come close to the quality of this movie). Not to mention a solid cast with Robert Young, Maureen O'Hara, Richard Haydn, Ed Begley Sr., and Clifton Webb as Mr. Belvedere. This version of Mr. Belvedere is a bit eccentric and a self proclaimed genius.

Sex & Fury (1973)
Fine revenge story with no lack of boobs and bad Swedish actors pretending to be English. :)
The condom scene was just lolworthy.

So who's seen Black Panther?

Because on Twitter people are absolutely creaming their fucking knickers over how it's the best film they've ever seen and how it should win oscars, how it's a "cultural milestone" and how they're going back for a fourth viewing.

But a friend back in the U.K. saw it and just sent me this message:

"On another note - black panther is fucking shite. Apparently you're racist if you criticise it. I guess that makes me racist then. It's dreadful."

Not sure what the world is coming to when anyone of any creed or colour considers anything MCU related to qualify as "art" or a "cultural milestone"; DaVinci is turning in his grave. That's not to say I won't necessarily enjoy it personally - I haven't had an opportunity to see it yet - but I do find it disturbing that you can't openly criticize a movie with an all black cast for film related faults (acting, casting, scripting, directing etc) without being snubbed as a racist.
Always outnumbered, never outgunned - No zuo no die

The babest. In her defense, she basically just did softcore and sexploitation stuff outside of Sex & Fury and Thriller/They Call Her One Eye. Still active on Facebook, too!

Man, wish I had more time. Haven't watched many movies this past year and the current. All this talk of Vengeance is Mine and I own two copies of the film and an Imamura box set I still haven't dove into. Ah, the hobby struggle!
