Fantastic. I'll be importing ASAP.
I haven't been posting around here much, too busy with school. Can't wait to play for some score when summer starts.

At this point I'm now waiting to find out that it was a mistake or mistranslation.
Because this seems too awesome.

They couldn't find a western publisher, so they made it region free. Doesn't sound far fetched to me.

Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)

Instead of feeling depressed when I read SDOJ articles I'm this-

I've just bought some DS games so a preorder is out of the window, hopefully I'll beable to grab a std copy just after launch.
Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (Spring 2013)
I never for a second thought they would. Maybe they didn't get the memo, no-one's buying the localisations.Cuilan wrote:So I guess this means they couldn't find a publisher willing to license it overseas.
But region free is a lovely way of resolving the issue.

Now all we need to do is buy so many copies that they make a 3rd Mushihimesama.

Which will be Nesica live only.

Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
I pre-ordered the super limited edition like over a month ago in the UK from VGI and I still may not get a copy.
I really hope that they make enough to fulfill all orders, the long wait until the end of the month begins.

Are there any pre-order / first print bonuses for this at all, and for what versions?

I was originally planning to let the release slip by since I don't have a J360 but upon hearing this, I put down my money for a pre-order.
I'm so hyped now.

You get the following (as most likely mentioned earlier):
-Steelbook edition of DDP:SDOJ
-A4 Premium Artbook
-Tray set
-3 sets of special art stickers
-Arcade soundtrack
-Arrange soundtrack
-Opening theme song single
I really, really hope I get mine....

Quite a bit swag with the SLE set indeed. Will surely compliment the Cave SDOJ/DDP Maximum OST set as well.

I'm just glad there's no first-print DLC. (Partially because I don't plan on preordering)
i'm bad at video games
Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
I think because of the very limited first print of the SLE, the extra items that come in that package will be the bonuses.oboewan42 wrote:I'm just glad there's no first-print DLC. (Partially because I don't plan on preordering)
I believe the SLE is going to be hard to source even now, and the game isn't even out yet. I also think that it will go the same way as the cave shooting collection and sell for stupid prices just weeks after release.

As far as the DLC and updates for the cave games. I am pretty sure you can move these to a thumb drive and and run them on the 360 that was. At least for the DLC. Can the updates be moved and run on the thumb drive also?
Basically I'm asking if I could save all the updates etc to a thumb drive for archiving. Also wondering if I could pull them off the thumbdrive and burn them onto a CD via a PC, then just but them back on the thumb drive and get them back on the 360. Probably not though, otherwise I could just give DLC free to friends. Not unless the 360 stores some sort of key. Still then I have to worry about those as well.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

my hope in that regard is just to one day be rich enough to afford an arcade cab and futari black label
but if you could back up the DLC, I think that would be a boon for the shmup scene in the case of such an eventuality

Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
Bit of quick research and it looks like you can install the title updates to a USB drive if there is no other drive available to the 360. You can extract the updates and reinject the updates as well using software on the PC, but they will only work if the 360 has no other primary drive to access. DLC can be distributed this way as well, but only DLC that has no form of DRM, like the DLC that came with the Cave Shooting Colleciton.Strider77 wrote:As far as the DLC and updates for the cave games. Region free? Wow, Cave does something that actually makes sense shocker!
Way better than localization - tell all the people.

I still think Loli Hibachi voiced in glorious English would have been just about the most amazing thing in the world.
But just being able to play the damn game takes priority. :V

Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (Spring 2013)
I beg to differ - try to connect to XBox Live with an Xbox 360 that has not had a software update since 2005, Nov. 22 - you can't unless you accept an update. Xbox Live will evolve to support the 8th generation platform - so Microsoft will try to minimize the money and resources that are expended on keeping the Xbox 360 software in sync and eventually decommission the services that support the Xbox 360 on Xbox Live. The earlier they can pull that off, the more money they'll save - so they are motivated to find an "excuse" once the next platform is on the market.Kiken wrote:Apples to oranges. ... I still find it a little odd that Cave (and Triangle Service) aren't being more agressive with promoting the region-free aspect of their upcoming games. Are they relying entirely on word-of-mouth? Didn't Cave have an english-speaking dude working with them to translate their iPhone games and run the CaveWorld EN twitter account? At least Siliconera picked up the "story" but it'd be kinda cool if they sent out PDF promo sheets to bigger news sites out there.

You're overestimating their foreign userbase. Half the members of this forum are emulation and touhou ripping kids who can't afford a 360, and another third aren't that desperate for the game. The hype here doesn't translate into 100,000 foreign sales, and Cave know it. Therefore publicity beyond a Twitter message is unnecessary for them. It's just to say "we couldn't get this licensed for a foreign release, so it's region free as a last game gift to you tiny demographic of potential buyers."denpanosekai wrote:I still find it a little odd that Cave (and Triangle Service) aren't being more agressive with promoting the region-free aspect of their upcoming games. Keep in mind all the Cave localisations to date sold like complete shit, enough to see Aksys and Rising Star bow out due to losses. The Deathsmiles sales were accidental and didn't draw a lot of profit due to incorrect pricing. In short, the overseas market is almost insignificant.

Yeah I see copies of Deathsmiles collectors edition with the faceplate gathering dust in just about every gamestop. Good news on making it region free, I just preordered. Ha! It has the exact same release date as Triangle Service's Shooting Love. Saves on shipping.
So how does Saidaioujou rank compared to the other Dodonpachi games? Better? Worse? Totally different?
