Grabbed Dokuro, for $3 off PSN.

Not sure what I'm in store for, but 3 things caught my interest:
- 2D.
- Mix of platforming, and puzzle solving.
- Minimalistic story-telling (I like when games do the "less is more" approach).

Whenever Softbank decides it wants to stop being ass and download my stuff faster, I'll finally get around to playing it.

This is a nice sale for US PS+ subscribers.

Killzone for 9$, Sly 4 for 6.75$ and The Walking Dead Season 1 for 5$ are Vita releases from last year that might not be worth spending extra to get the retail version of. Thomas Was Alone for 2.50$ is also interesting, I don't have any high hopes for the game but I do want to try it and 2.50$ is not much.

On the PS3 side, Puppeteer for 7$ is nice. Rest of the PS3 offers are more games that are better on a PC.

I played a little of Dokuro. Not a lot, but I can definitely say it's worth 3$.

That's a really cool sale. Alas, I just added on another year to my UK PS+ as HMV Oxford Street was selling 1 year subscriptions for £27 before the store closed down.

Also bought LBP and Uncharted for £5 and £6 respectively.

Anyway, and in other news, the Vita had a 41% drop in sales for 2013, which is a really big shame as I love the machine and hope it picks up. The price drop should help, as well as Sony's indie publishing initiative. Just hope it can still turn it around.

Still glad it beat the Wii U though... Because, you know, Vita means Life.

Live long and prosper...

My white PS Vita arrived today. Is near $100 the best price available for a 64GB memory card at the moment? I will be purchasing Spelunky and The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season during the sale.

Well, I've successfully received all my setup stuff, and I've got the screen and backside protectors on, along with the Madcatz clear plastic case/shell. It's currently charging after initial setup, but I couldn't get it to accept my Wi-Fi signal's password, for some reason. I'm sure it'll get figured out, but it's still weird.

Looking forward to seeing how long it takes to download "The Walking Dead".

Ouch...I should hope not. You may, in the end, be proven correct, but being as I just bought one, I'm hoping your pessimism doesn't bear out. I'm still hoping that some of the big companies could give the machine some proper support. I wish Capcom would get behind it as they did with the PSP. May not happen, but who knows?

It wasn't meant to necessarily be a knock, as I also enjoy mine quite a lot. But I'd definitely say it's tracking closer to a Zune than an iPod at this point.

Don't worry, Sony isn't going to drop Vita for a long time. Sales have actually picked up a bit in recent months (especially in Japan), and I assume that PS4 remote play and the upcoming Playstation Now service are going to help, too.

Now go and get some games!

With Sony's servers... You'll have the download finished by the time season 10 launches.

I bought some stuff today (Killzone, Puppeteer, Thomas Was Alone, Worms) and almost had to give up on finishing the transaction. I seriously believe that lots of people do give up and Sony could earn more money with better servers.

"The iPod of gaming" - In their dreams I would imagine. It's a smart thing and I'm enjoying my Vita immensely... playing lots of PSP games. It might be iPod-esque in interface, but that's it in terms of likenesses. Then again this is quoted from flagrant PR jockeying so who really cares.

Wow...I think I can kind of understand that at this point. I'm using my Wi-Fi signal at home now (don't know why it wouldn't work earlier in the day, but it's fine now), and I'm in the midst of redeeming my free "The Walking Dead" game voucher. It's taking a solid *hour* to do this over Wi-Fi. An *hour*. It's quite a shock to me that the download would take that long over as strong a signal as I've got.

I wonder if this is typical, because...wow. That's a heck of a long time IMHO.

Here's a quick question for you Vita veterans: can I use/play/download PSP minis on my Vita? There's a game that PomPomGames did called Alien Zombie Death that I'd like to get, but I'm wondering if it's available in the US for the Vita. Oddly, it's not available in the US for the PSP, so I can't get it that way.

I think of it as more like "The Handheld Dreamcast".

It's not selling well. But I love it all the same.

Yep, my love for my Vita is unconditional.

Don't care what anyone says...

The Vita runs PSP minis, but if it's not available for PSP, it's not available for Vita.

It varies, a lot. Now there's a sale on which means it'll probably be slower because of more traffic.

I finally got my Dragons Crown copy (thank you customs office for waiting so long telling me where my game is) and I only can recommend it.
So if all these praise in the shmup-forum isn't enough to make you buy the game:
BUY IT

I bought 4 copies of Dragon's Crown on PS3 (they were about £7.50 each). Have already sold one and have two more up for sale.

Just wondering as to whether I should stick with the PS3 version, or get the Vita version...

Anyway, donating $1.8 million gets you the next game from Y Matsuno on Vita...

I just wish Hiroshi Iuchi went KS also. Man, I want a new shmup by him. And I am prepared to pay top dollar.

Someone here pointed out that white ps vita on amazon, and I just had to have it. Spent the rest of my Christmas monies and, well, it's gorgeous. So thanks. My daughter is getting my old black one that she scratched up.

Vita without a shadow of a doubt. I played it on PS3 a month back after finishing it on Vita and was mortified by having to drag a cursor around the screen with thumbsticks - it honestly almost constitutes a design flaw. You need to be uncovering loot and casting rune spells by interacting with the background constantly, and often right in the heat of battle. As opposed to a quick set of thumb taps on the screen, the PS3 is nigh-on unworkable and clumsy. You can get better at it, but it will never be at the same speed or split second engagement of the touchscreen. Trust me!

I'll second this.

Dragon's Crown was originally intended to be Vita-exclusive back when Sony was still the publisher, and it really shows when you think about the game design elements mentioned above.

It's an action RPG (with the action part being a beat'em up).

You're severely limiting yourself by avoiding any game that has RPG elements in it. It's a VERY broad range of games you're avoiding.

So I bought the game on Vita. Now I just don't know whether to sell my PS3 version, or send back my Vita copy when it arrives.

I hear conflicting reports about the game. Some people say the game is broken (framerate issues etc) on Vita and that the PS3 version really was the lead system. Others argue that the Vita version is the same and that the touchscreen controls edge it out as being the (marginal) winner.

Just not sure what to do...

Didn't you read my post?

Vita ver. wins hands down, and not by a "marginal" measure. Anyone who claims the PS3 as superior is just being silly because they bought it. From a playability perspective, we're talking a gulf of difference, and they look great on both consoles.

Sell your PS3 copy, enjoy your game.

It's safe to say that after watching that video that I prefer my Vita infinitely more than my 3DS (which I decided to keep). Just hope Sony can turn it around for 2014...
