Congrats Aquas, those are some amazing replays! I particularly enjoyed the Dragon Spirit 1CC :D
Good luck with Guwange, I simply could not wrap my head around the final pattern and have set it aside for now.

Mushihimesama Futari Black Label - God Mode - 5,646,696,715 - Reco

There were lots of minor mistakes as well as a couple of major ones during this run, but it's good enough for me. Time to move on to something else.

I also don't think I posted my newest (but still old) Akai Katana videos in this thread. If anybody that doesn't check the hi-score forum is interested:

Akai Katana Zetsu - 1,583,536,343 - Yaezakura (Type C)
Akai Katana - 424,711,200 - Yaezakura (Type C)

You know, it's funny. It took a long time for me to "understand" the bullets / patterns in Guwange. I had reached the last boss in a credit recently and I was crazily dodging the majority of the patterns on the very final life bar. I'm not sure what it is exactly but it clicked after like the 15-20 hours I've played so far. Part of it is getting to know the hitbox too. Guwange is such an oddball for Cave though, in terms of its bullet patterns. Maybe I'm just getting better at STG in general, too... >_>

Also, I played some Dragon Saber tonight and I love it. Hope to 1cc this one as well at some point.

Damn Iconoclast you're a beast. Gonna put those in my 'watch later'.

Deathsmiles Mega Black Label 1.1 - Windia - 220 bil

Did this a loooong time ago, just got around to ripping it off the DVD and encoding it. It's pretty messy, but I think it's still the highest western MBL 1.1 score. High points include me manually controlling my option like a pussy through the entire run, and causing some neat graphical glitches in the Ice Palace (~24:30).

EDIT: Japanese version, of course. The same DVD had comparison runs between the US and JP versions in MBL 1.1 on the Forest stage... the Japanese run takes over twice as long. Pre-patch of course... was kind of enjoyable to recall my absolute horror the first time I booted the US version up.

The easiest way to clear Guwange is to make the best use out of the powerups on the final stage. The last one in the spider nest refills all of your lives but does nothing for bombs but bombs carry over after deaths. So stock them up to have a ton of bombs in stock when you get it even if you have no life. Then you are set in the middle of the last stage will full lives and a huge bomb stock. Then it's a matter of using your resources pretty well and getting the powerups on the final boss (which again you can time to max bomb and energy potential) and you can get hit by the final pattern lots of times and still clear it. I never learned his final attack, how to dodge it consistently. When I dodged it it was just luck, seems very random. But I've cleared the white and blue using this method.

Hey Seahawk, that's a very awesome 1943 replay! I always found these older 19xx games to be quite difficult. The amount of stages didn't make it any simpler. Highly impressive dodging skills!

Death Smiles II - 1.130.954.295 - Casper

This run was surprisingly stable from a survival perspective (my deaths were intentional). Of course both of SIN's superplays are way better, but I did my best. ( ・ω・)

Dogyuun Counter-stop

Can be done without even finishing the first loop

Enemy capture is the dumbest mechanic, especially when it does basically nothing except for points.

What the hell is going on at the end of the video? How is it being done? It looks like he's just sitting there sucking in points without the boss firing??

The vid description is very thorough. Only thing I don't get is the Left Key: 2 Times, Down Key: 4 Times, etc, in the lower right corner. What's that for, different versions of Accel Mode you can activate?

Haven't played the game, but it looks like he

1) Kills the middle section to get rid of the 3-way shot
2) Kills the left claw so it won't ram him in the corner
3) Get to the top of the screen so the tail can't fire

It's too bad the video ends so soon/only has Japanese text explaining it, but my guess is that the boss can't hit him in that corner and will never time out.

That is the replay speed actually. :V
You can fast-forward it up to 64 times depending on which key you hold.

From what I can tell the tractor beam thing gives you points and he can just sit in that spot forever to get the score to counterstop.

Precisely. No boss timeouts + time-based scoring = lols

Ustream video of YDA going up to Loop 5(?!?!?!) thanks to Game Vamos. This has to be the best run of Gradius III I ever seen including some impressive recoveries (Bubble, Cave and Fire Stage) as well as 3 flawless navigation attempts through the Crystal Stage.
