Bahaha. Has BL finally entered the (ebay and other auctions w/) Insane Prices league of its rarer NTSCJ equivalent? I wonder if my sunfaded, manual-less but sterlingly faithful ol' snapcase copy rescued from the rental place fire sale of ancient times might someday pay the bills ^_~ (back off losers! Its NOT 4 SALE)

I wonder if it might someday make tactical sense to jack in CIB The Hard Corps and Vampire Killer towards US copies for 1337 (if illusory) difficulty.

War... war has changed.

Maybe these guys have the right idea. People buying things solely because they are extremely expensive is nothing new.

Want all the Metal Slugs for your AES? Well, you're in luck. It will only cost you 3 million dollars.
Yes. 3,000,000. Dr. Evil would be proud.

Yeah - easy. Those are never ever going to sell for that crazy price.

This DID sell for a crazy price:

http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g143692921

150,000 yen ($1400+) for an incomplete POP for Haunted Castle. I wonder if the buyer even realises a bit is missing.

I doubt the one sold at that price - that's why he's got a make an offer option. Typically these guys set a ridiculous BIN price so that when you give them a "reasonable" offer (in comparison to the BIN price), it's already way above market and they will accept.

I'll wait another three or five years and sell my copy. Should generate enough funds for a new sports car.

"Golden Age comics are sought after on eBay. Over 15 sell every hour with an average price of $70!"

I never realized what's going on below the hood at eBay. Check this out:

Seems to be current still, though I wish they had it dated.

That is so painfully dumb. You could basically buy every desirable game you wanted mint and complete for the price of that shelf piece.

Too bad, I was in the market for that $10,000 Saturn collection, but there's no boobs on the thumbnail header so I won't bite.

...And damn, I wasn't aware that sealed JP carts of Smash 64 were already commanding such outrageous prices. Though a lot of the "value" is probably in that collectors' graded slab.

I figured as much. Goobers trying to pass cheap or near-worthless games off as four-figure holy grails just because they're slabbed are a cancer on the collectors' market.

VGA really needs some strict, high-bar standards on how valuable a game needs to be before they'll slab it. Although I guess they'd be out of business then.

I'm not against legit copies of Stadium Events or Nintendo World Championships getting slabbed, regardless of the idiocy of anyone who'd buy them afterwards.

I don't think Japanese N64 games were factory sealed to begin with, were they? Always a red flag when I come across NEW+SE@LED L@@K vintage Nintendo (or Sega) stuff. Some punk ass bitch with cling film and a hairdryer is after your cash, bro!

My "sealed" N64 games come in a loose-fitting crinkly bag. Certainly just an "aftermarket modification." I guess Japan kept holding onto the dream of no sticky-fingered teens in GLORIOUS NIPPON for a long while  I wouldn't put any stock in this at all, even for protected contents, unless you think it serves as a clue about how long the game has been unused. But if you're looking at highly priced games, I think the safest assumption is that all bets are off and anybody could be trying to pull anything. If common stores were doing it, after all, it can't be too expensive to slap a bag on it.

agh, I've been suckered into talking about S3@L3D G4M3Z again! RELEASE THE SEALS.
