The stage 4 midboss is one of the hardest bits in the game, including some of the bosses. The stage 5 midboss is incredibly easy when you time picking up the shield extra right.

26,640,690 - G19 - 123 laser - Speed 5 - Stage 4 - 77%

Since this is my first hi-score ever I posted a pic i took with my cam phone as 'proof'.

*PIC*

EDIT : 33,678,340 - G19 - 123 Laser - Speed 3 - Stage 4 - 65%

New cam-phone won't let me take a pic of TV, keep getting big black bars across the screen fs. Anyway, slower ship speed helped me dodge bullets bit better; higher score but the st 4 boss got me again (only 1 life left).. excuses, excuses..

44,614,470 - G19 - 123 Laser - Speed 5 - Stage 4 - 74%

*PIC*

This is first time playing in tate and it seems to be easier. Pic quality is ok except for the black bars obscuring part of the score, but you can make out my last high score of 33mil underneath it too.

EDIT - (PS2) 65,339,440 - G19 - 123 Laser - Speed 5 - Stage 5 - 81%

Played PS2 version for first time tonight. Couldn't be arsed flipping the tv so I just played in blur-o-vision yoko. I can't remember the last time I played a game with anywhere near as much lag as this. It's miles behind the DC version. Due mainly to the slowdown I was able to keep my multiplier for longer, hence the higher score. First time going into stage 4 with 5 lives, but only 2 going into st5. Plus I completely forgot about the Milestone logo in the excitement. I think if I had collected it I would be looking at an ALL. Next time..

16,927,320 - Arvandor - 123 Laser - Speed 5 - Stage 3 - 52%

First couple hours of actually playing the game. Look forward to higher scores over the next couple weeks (progress will be slow, since I'll only really play it on the weekends). If I manage a 1cc in the next 3-5 months, I'll honestly be surprised, even though this game isn't horrendously difficult =/

Edit: Ok... I lied. Guess I should have waited till I KNEW I was done for the night before posting.

36,393,250 - Arvandor - 123 Laser - Speed 5 - Stage 4 - 71%

I only lost one life to the chapter 4 midboss amazingly enough o_O The chapter 4 boss did me in though. I had NO idea what I was doing, and the last death was being right where one of those blue fixed lasers fire -_^ 'twas the end of me. Also... Holy free points in chapter 4 batman. Over doubled my score on that stage alone.

Yeah, after ages I remembered to post my last decent effort. Now Rob will hate because he needs to update once more

I'm starting to pick this back up again, scoring 40+ million with the DC version. One thing though, the PS2 version is so slow in parts that I can get 70+ million despite dying at exactly the same place and collecting much the same amount if items ie 90% or more. Has anyone played both to any degree to compare? Current PS2 high is 71xxx million versus only 44 million for DC version; surely this can't all be down to more slowdown and the PS2 pad?

What the hell did they do to the scoring?

Is this supposed to be an arcade mode score? Man, the US version is apparently broken.

They added an extra 0 digit.

You know it might be possible for some players to stop the counter/roll the counter over if you do that for Manpuku/Full Belly mode, right?

Good call. Yeah, it seems that they jacked all the score values up by a factor of 10.

Well you can't know that for sure yet, they could also have just messed with the values of stuff (not necessarily all by a factor of 10) to make it really high scoring. If so, you'll need a whole new chart for these scores. :? Also, there is an 8mil ALL on there. Is an 800,000 ALL even possible? I realise the guy could have continued, but if you continue, isn't there a 1 in the last digit?

Overall, changing the scoring is the worst idea ever. I'd never buy this version solely for that reason.

I thought something was odd with those scores... but I also figured that changing a shmups scoring system was... unethical! Then again, the version I have was not the final build before it got cancelled.

I have no idea if you want to create a separate scoing chart... since the US release of this game barely exists. I have a copy, and some publications such as Nintendo Power and IGN also have copies. but thats about it. Maybe divide my scores by 10 and put 'em in the list with an asterisk explaining the version? :)

Thanks for the input so far!

Don_K, I would ask you to record some footage of the US version (say, just level 1), so that we can see what the US version is doing score-wise.

As for submitting scores... it really isn't worth Rob's time to construct a special offshoot ranking just for what is essentially an unreleased beta that very few people will ever play.

If you would really like to participate in the score-rankings, I would suggest snagging the import GC version along with a FreeLoader disc.

I have the JPN version for GC already, but I prefer to play the US one because it'll actually save to my memory card :)

I can record some video, sure. Maybe within the next few days. Maybe tonight if I get some time.

And if you do record, don't skip cutscenes...please?
