The classic PC Engine Super CD-Rom2 of Gradius II from Konami has actual pictures of the Vic Viper fightercraft kit-bashed and it's accompanying background scenery diorama as well portrayed through out the instruction manual. Sadly, we don't see stuff like that being done nowadays.

NEVER TURN UR BACK ON BLACK MAGIC (`w´メ)

Post by BIL »

Can't believe I forgot this one! Amongst my favourite FC boxarts. Reminded by YOU.SHINO

Not sure if the character art is physical cutout, or superimposed onto the BG models. Maybe a bit of both? In the spirit of the thread, at any rate. The FC box is actually a modified closeup, taken from the lovely arcade flyer:

Also, a higher-res repost of The Ninja Kids, to celebrate the ACA release of this great brawler. Image

I think you're right with "C": there's some interesting depth and shadowing going on in both the key and wizard battle panels...

The key and treasure box are so satisfying to look at. Got a bag of pretzels on my desk that recalls the locked door, too.

Another I forgot from the FC trunk! Hard to find good scans, sadly. Charming photography for a lovable little consolisation.
