Honestly, I think I'm one of those people that just won't be convinced to buy a microsoft console no matter what.

The only feasible way I'd ever get one is if I either won it somehow as a prize for something, or if one of my favorite franchises decided to go exclusive for whatever reason.

yea... the ddpdojblex code was ripped from the ps2 port which therein created a buncha bugs/coding issues for the 360 version. They actually had to have arika (the ones who ported ddpdoj on ps2) come in to help iron out the kinks for the release.

I wonder if the wii u will ever get a good stg library. I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't invested in it considering the virtual console.

that would be the best case scenario for me since I already own a Wii U, though I have my doubts about it seeing any worthwhile STG library. I would hope for some Klon titles at least since they used to develop on the Wii quite a bit.

Already own a XB1 and a Wii U and happy with the choices I have made. PS4 looks like it is a POS with little to nothing to play.

I like this post simply because of how stupid and misinformed it is. If all you do is pay attention to the big shot triple A releases, of course you're gonna think that.

But seriously, it's been less than a year since either the PS4 or Xbone has launched. Neither console really has anything lined up right now in terms of exclusives. However if we're going by track records, A little less than a year ago I recall Sony announcing exclusive after exclusive (a large number of which were niche japanese stuff with localization, although no shmups) week after week for the PS3, while Microsoft was content to release a Doritos branded XBLA game and call it a day. Besides the games, Microsoft seems to have very little respect for consumers: they're happy to plaster video ads all over the UI, even when paying a subscription fee for basic functionality branded as a premium service, and back when the Xbone was announced they were trying to force that god awful DRM on consumers and telling detractors to get over it.

I own a PS4 and I hate big shot triple A releases, and the PS4 has nothing that interests me yet. The most play I've gotten out of it is the two weeks I played Towerfall Ascension. I got Battlefield 4 with the system and that game isn't my style at all so I sold it. Now I don't even have a disc-based game for the console. Every time I go to watch a movie on it I press the eject button and it just beeps at me. I've been wanting to get Sportsfriends, but that's about it at this point. None of the PS+ games have been compelling once I started playing them. Some of them looked cool, but then I downloaded them and they were just dull.

The only system worth buying for the games it actually has out is Wii U, imo. The biggest games on Xbone are all available on other formats, while PS4 has a number of exclusives but nothing really worth playing yet outside of Towerfall and possibly Sportsfriends. Also Resogun, but that lost my interest pretty quick.

To be fair, I see a lot of "sour grapes" against Microsoft all over the Internet (Neogaf...), and even in this thread. It's almost always "why won't they release X game on PSwhatever instead of Xbone/360?!", not the other way around.

Decided for certain that the Xbox One will be my next console. Seeing it become the new home of Qute sealed the deal. Also very interested in seeing where Platinum goes with Scalebound.

No one should be holding their breath for any new Cave games on the system that aren't visual novels. There's an okay chance one will show up, but it won't happen without MS Japan funneling enough money into development. I don't think they will be willing to commit as heavily to supporting the system in Japan as they were with the 360.

Seriously, guys, don't buy an Xbone just so you can play three games on it. You shouldn't spend about $400 just so you can play games who's collective cost is probably less than $50.

Alright, you got me there.

But there are plenty of other reasons to hold out on going gung-ho (Is that how you spell it? I've never seen that word written.) for the Xbox One just because there's a couple of shmups on it now.

I'll get Xbun for the same reason I got the previous two. To feel the cooling fan waft its refreshing breeze onto my sweaty nutsack in these hot summer months, while playing the handful of exclusives I want.

I'm going to wait and see whether these games finish development and actually are exclusive. 2015 is a long way away. There's so little information on these titles and what they are, that it's all a little too ambiguous. I was thinking of buying a PS4 for bloodborne, but I'm going to wait and see how this shmup situation develops.

I'm not a fan of B list shmup devs either. Which is why I'm excited for a new game from Qute, the greatest shmup dev of the last 20 years.

I'm somewhat curious about these two titles, but there seems to be many varying opinions. The "abstract/simple" graphics aren't exactly to my taste, but if the gameplay is tops, I won't mind.

Is there "in game" chatter in those games? If so, can it be turned off? This is one of my big pet peeves... I just want to shoot stuff out to a great soundtrack.

Not really, Eschatos was almost universally well received. Ginga Force might be a slightly more divisive, but not by much really. Was still very well received by pretty much everyone.

There's no story or dialogue at all in Eschatos. Ginga Force has chatter but it can be turned off.

What is the best way to enjoy them? (I will own a J 360 soon.) Purchasing the double pack or buying both separately? (I don't care about soundtracks and stuff - I love game music (especially shmups and Castlevania) but I generally stream or download it).
