both higher difficulties and actually bothering with the loop aren't popular at all(just look at crimzon clover)
the sdoj expert one with 2 entries is downright hilarious though

Re: Just me or is Daifukkatsu poorly balanced for survival?
You have a point there but look at games like Batrider, Mushimesama Futari or Touhou games to name some examples. You see plenty of submissions for higher difficulties in those games. I don't think its enough that the games offer the option of the highest difficulty mode, the difficulty mode has to be attractive to people as well. I for one am not very interested in Crimzon Clover Unlimited but I'm quite interested in Dodonpachi games 2nd loops, Ketsui Omote and stuff like that and so I play them. However I'd lie if I wouldn't think it to be wonderful if you could just skip the first loop even at the cost of the challenge of it. I'm more into just getting right into the thick of the action and games with 20-30 minute long credits rather than 50 minute long ones. So i tend to play games that allow me to jump straight into the higher difficulties more than the loop games but Crimzon Clover Unlimited isn't one of them because that mode just doesn't look fun to me. Too hard you could say.
I guess what I want to say is, in tl;dr format:
- Easily accessible higher difficulties makes the player more inclined to play the higher difficulties compared to the more effort demanding loops but it still doesn't make people be all over stuff they don't think seems fun like Futari Ultra, Crimzon Clover or SDOJ Expart (which i haven't played just for the record)
That is at least my take on things. Idk if anyone agrees.

CC unlimited is nowhere near 2nd loops though
everyone thought it was as hard as a cave 2-all because no one played it and no one cleared it

No, but the point was that not a lot of people has interest in playing Unlimited for whatever reason people may have. They'd probably have even less interest if you had to play through Original every time you want to try it. If that was the case, how likely is it that anyone here would even have cleared it? Not ruling it out as an impossibility but judging from what I see at the high score tables on here, it seems that most people barely clear Unlimited, if at all with non-Z types.
I think that the reason that those modes are unplayed is simply that people doesn't have interest in playing them.
Of course, maybe its just that a lot of shmup players aren't really that skilled at playing shmups. I am not very good compared to some of the beasts that seem to be on this site that can do amazing stuff like 2-alling games. Most of us are not that skilled so maybe that is why nobody bothers with doing 2nd loops or higher difficulties, because they're simply satisfied with the modes that suit their skills. Personally I like to challenge the second loops and the higher difficulties in the games that has those just to try to get as far as I can even though clearing them is unlikely for me. I could understand why a lot of people wouldn't be interested in doing that tho, instead opting for something that isn't too much out of reach.
PS: I'm sorry if this post seems a bit disorderly, I had to rush a bit to try and express what I wanted to say before having to leave.
