That being said I would still play.
Would fap and play.

Would it be better if you just killed them like in most other shooters?
Maybe we can blow up their colony and take out seven billion people while we're at it, that'd be fun.

At least I'm not supposed to be fapping to any of that.

If you are fapping to it...I'm scared.

So basically it will go like this:

1) Fighting boss as normal.
2) Clothes come flying off as the boss takes damage.
3) Crash into stuff while distracted.

Someone call Youtube, we have a new HARDEST BOSS FIGHT EVER!

Hmm, would make sense considering they got Catherine of all games worldwide. Maybe if they take it up I might actually have a chance at getting this locally.

Well I can definitely see this having niche appeal.

I was wondering when we'd see a sequel to Steam Hearts.

I dislike the visuals of this game as much as the rest(?) of you do, but if you start associating it with quality and buy-ability then you should probably just bugger off to Gamefaqs, Youtube or /v/ where people get their panties in a bunch over every little insignificant things like that.

This is absolutely true. Whenever I'm reminded that these are business decisions, regrettably I have to admit if it were my company I'd probably be inclined to follow suit.

Not really planning to play in front of an audience and/or with my dick out. As long as there's still a solid game behind all of the visuals, then I'll buy it, play it, and probably get destroyed on the leaderboards. If it turns out they spent their whole budget on the R-15 art and made KOF Skystage 2 instead of reaching their previous benchmarks for quality, then I can just safely ignore the whole thing.

I think you are looking for the wrong type of games if you can't stand japanese visual content in a type of game basically invented by the japanese.

This seems a weird thing to say about a genre that started out with stylized spaceships and ended up with young women groping themselves.

That and, that's like saying we can't complain about today's anime being too much about tits and ass and less about quality just because it's anime. Sorry but that logic just outflat fails from a viewer/player standpoint. Now about the sexuality, it would be okay if it was optional, but if it isn't, it isn't really wonder that some people do not appreciate tits and ass being shoved down their throats (as impossible physically as it sounds).

BTW, this is a forum and therefore should be good for discussion and talking about opinions. Sticks and stones and so.

Because that is my opinion, you may like this game, but I don't like the trend of moe characters everywhere and I also don't like that anime nowadays is cluttered with these. I am irritated by the use of lolis in poses that give me a glimpse on their pants. And in the case of this game, I live together with my gf and I don't hide the games I play or I also don't want to explain her, that I don't care about the visuals but it is the scoring system and the challenge, while there are half naked girls' clothes being blown of on my screen.

Shmups have always been with spaceships blowing off other machines and aliens. I prefer this aestetic. The lolis are a recent trend, that I was never happy with. But i buyed some of the games anyway because the loli images were not that explicit and the games actual gameplay kicks ass.

But with this one goes just too far in my opinion. I don't want any weird erotic content in my shmup. So I won't buy that because I don't want to support shmups going into that direction.

Then buy the ones that don't have it. Obviously some people like it or else it wouldn't exists.
I think it's time for haters to let bygones-be-bygones. This kinda shit has been around in shmups for a long time...
there are plenty of shmups without clothes getting torn off every which way.

I remember having an embarrassing discussion once at an Electronics Boutique over this particular game:

Of course there are people who like it and I don't say they are perverts or bad persons or anything. If they like it, fine then buy it. I am not saying that a game like this shouldn't exist or anything.

BUT there are also people who don't like it, who would like to voice their opinion. I mean having some sexual undertones is very common in games in general and I don't really mind. The main problem I have with this game is, it is more then just some undertones. This goes too far for me personally, so I won't buy it.

And the reason I am so tired of the moe characters is. Because it has become hard to find a shmup without them. It has reached a point where people actually assocciate bullet hell with cute anime girls. I miss some good ol' space ship blastings. I don't mind the loli games being there. But please also give us some variation.

And I know and understand that this is done for financial reasons. But doing something for financial reasons can of course upset the customers. Say, if at some point they would implement pay to win mechanics in shmups. So you need to buy power ups with real money, because the genre has become so niche that they don't make enough money otherwise. Then of course you would also be upset, no matter if it is understandable from a business point of view.

Trouble Shooter's western cover is so stupid as to be awesome.

A lot like El Viento or Alisia Dragoon's western box-art.

A mild joke like that doesn't do any harm ;) That went over badly, I apologize. I don't have a problem with your view.

People are free to vote with their pocketbooks, I think the trend of Japanese shooter devs to retreat into otaku culture is hurting their appeal and these comments are evidence of that.

No they're not. People here have a tendency to call any female characters of asian complexion "lolis". Most STG characters other than Touhou and Deathsmiles generally aren't lolis.
