What happened if i change to Stick mode instead of DPad Mode in mame4droid 2024 version ?

Flying shark
Vinh Loc - 1,219,770 - 229 - Hybrid - Mame4droid 2024 ver

In fact i was testing the Stick mode first with the sequel Fire Shark before this game, but the runs didn't ends well (died at stage 3) and i have to use save state to 1-all it :((

I've tried out so much shmups game there such as Capcom's 194x, Raiden, Raiden II, Raiden DX even the sequel Fire shark (the infamous JP 1P ver known to have the fastest and unpredictable bullets, not like this game which is slow and chill)

Just figuring out today, the green plane shoot 3-way spread in stages 3 and 4 are actually Zero A6M, which is later become playable in 1944 The Loop Master and some of Psikyo Games

Check out the wikipedia here, i just made some update info on Trivia section:

I just trying the Japanese version and figure out today: in Hishouzame JP ver, it is actually harder to trigger the 1UP plane formation than the Flying Shark world version. Otherwise bullet speed, checkpoint is actually identical

Arcade - Hishouzame
Vinh Loc - 985,760 - 179 - hybrid - mame4droid 2024

Dying in 2-5 just like in Flying Shark world version, but my score is actually lower, that is because like i just said it's harder to trigger the 1UP plane formation, therefore sometime i had to recovery in spare lives, which is quite afraid :(

If you are having fun you should go with it! Bombs are best for checkpoint recovery, not so needed when you have full power shots. No miss is most of the challenge.

Arcade - Hishouzame
Vinh Loc - 1,407,950 - 229 - Hybrid - mame4droid 2024

No miss 1st loop, then took a couple of deaths at area 129 (boss stage 2-2), i thought my runs was done, but managed to make it to the end, before a tragic things happened: i took a deaths at 1,39 million but suddently get the extend at 1,4 mil just like T3-Kamui, then get the last chance before everythings is over

Vinh Loc - 1,392,500 - 242 - hybrid - mame4droid 2024

Arcade - Sky Shark (US Ver)

Vinh Loc - 1,191,840 - 193 - Hybrid - Mame4droid 2024

From now on, i think this will be the end since this game is way toooooo easy, and i don't want to do a very easy stuff too often, AND i finally gave up on Fire Shark the infamous 1p version. I don't know when i will coming back yet but thanks you guys for all your support

Good job!

Did you notice any differences from the japanese version?

I only played one credit of the western relese and thought that it felt easier. But I can't be sure of it because maybe I was only having a good run at that time.

It might be the rank, on the US version when i die and respawn at checkpoint the rank DOES decreased but the Japanese ver isn't

3-5 !!!! Can't belive i got this far

Arcade - Flying Shark
Vinh Loc - 1,718,910 - 279 - Yes - Mame4droid2024

This time i have two autofire buttons, one for bosses which i've been set up before, and other with 7Hz is for gameplay, like my Fire Shark run

I don't know anybody knows this, but recently i've tried the Nintendo verson of this game, it crashed at startup and the colors suddenly messed up. Did i supposed to find an Arcade Romhacks or can anybody fixed it. I use Nostalgia NES Pro and i've paid for it

Just tried once on a Rom Hack and figure there's no difference at all beside the slightly smaller hitbox compared to the official release (and three letters on the name entry instead of six as well)

Arcade - Flying Shark (rom hack 8741)
Vinh Loc - 1,084,330 - 182 - Yes - Mame4droid 2024

Finally figure it out. In the rom hack, game speed are going little faster than the official release, though everything else were the same

The only odd thing I see after watching for a few minutes is that the autofire rate is very high. That's too high to use for stages, so why not use a more reasonable 5Hz~6Hz? I'm too lazy to check the rest of the replay, but that is the only thing I see that's weird upon a cursory glance. The game stops getting harder somewhere on loop 3, so in theory if you can finish loop 3 you can play the game infinitely. Even then, enemy bullet speed and probably also both firing rate and turret turn rate reach their max near the beginning of loop 2 and the only things that change after that are that enemy HP goes up and sealing distance goes down.

That NES version is ultra terrible. You are missing exactly and absolutely nothing.

Rank should definitely decrease on the Japanese version when you die except for maybe if you die with no shot powerups. It's easy enough to check with the rank gadget on the M2 ShotTriggers release.

good call on this auto rate. I was originally just using a manual shot button and a 30hz boss melter on C but 5hz on A is quite comfy for the majority of the game

990-something K on 50K extend only settings (so max 6 lives for a game). stage 4 is like the hardest stage i think, so many tanks comin out of little nooks and crannies. long ago on defaults i got to 3-4 (3-5? the last stage on loop 3) but didnt care about recording stuff at that time so i cant submit sadly

Yeah 5 is probably best. I find that 6 is a little too fast and can create gaps big enough for stuff to escape through. I still think it's good to have a manual shot button just in case you need something in between 5 and 30, though.

BTW Despatche you put me as autofire yes when I should be autofire no. Apparently I like to damage my hand when playing this game...
