Looks like release might be a bit further than hoped; my tester found a couple rather glaring bugs, and it won't boot on a PCB for some reason. In addition, a power failure last night has resulted in my computer being unbootable, so I need to fix that first...
Shit man, that's harsh. good luck with fixing your PC.
I managed to get it booting on my PCB. It's not my place to post any details so I won't, but being a prick tease I'll post this instead. Needless to say if you're half as impressed as I was you won't be at all disappointed.
btw, if you think you've seen PGM slowdown & sprite glitches. You haven't.
I'm totally looking forward to this...keep up the good work trap15!
SO....that being said...I have a noobish question:
I have bee having issues getting DDP Arrange working. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of.
At this point, instead of listing every weird thing I've done, I'll just throw myself at the mercy of the forum and ask...
CAN SOMEONE WRITE UP A "HOW TO" FOR GETTING HACKED ROMS WORKING IN MAME?
Or maybe JUST a procedure for utilizing Trap15's arrange mods?
I just could NOT get DDP arrange to work after replacing, renaming, erasing and redownloading, etc. It just kept opening up the "normal" DDP Japanese rom...
Matskat wrote:CAN SOMEONE WRITE UP A "HOW TO" FOR GETTING HACKED ROMS WORKING IN MAME?
For Windows
Download any version of MAME that supports dodonpachi
Download the ddonpachj.zip from any MAME ROM site*
Download Traps dodonpachi ROM hack
Place the four files from Traps archive inside the ddonpachj.zip archive then place the ddonpachj.zip file in the MAME ROM folder
Open up a Command prompt > Start > Run > type "CMD"
Navigate to the MAME directory > ie type "cd C\:MAME"
launch MAME > type "MAME ddonpachj"
A few checksum errors may be thrown up but the game should load
*probably best check this works before continuing due to MAME name changes etc...
On whatever date we get a Deathsmiles rom that works well, I would really love a hack that uses white label scoring but adds ice palace and a level 4 from the start which is basically just level 3 with suicide bullets.
Quick update: my computer is back alive and well, but I current don't have a working copy of IDA Pro (my version was for OS X). I've sent an email out to my employer for the Linux version, so as soon as that is sent over, I should be able to finish it up relatively quickly.
Nice to see DDPA in a cabinet; that's probably the closest I'll ever get to seeing it running on actual hardware
I had a look at the free IDA some time ago - man if IDA Pro is anything like that one for interface stuff you must be insanely smart and educated in these things. It was impossible for me to understand.
I'm really excited from what I've seen from the testers. I've been meaning to get back into shmups for awhile and this one looks like it can hold my interest.
