By this point such an idea has been thoroughly explored in various modes of Espgaluda 2.

Like I said back in the Future of Cave thread .. Cave needs to think outside the bullet cancelling box. They've already done pretty much everything imagineable with it. It's time to move on, seriously. It's just getting stale and ridiculous.

But I don't think they'll actually do that. >_>

Some one needs to sneak in and film a clip so other people outside Japan can get a look at it

Deathsmiles IIX and Akai Katana Shin both have true 16:9 modes, but they haven't made an HD arcade release yet.

I wonder what the hardware will be. My money is on something other than SH3. I have a feeling they'll probably be testing something more powerful to see if it can create renewed interest in the company.

I'd be extremely surprised if it was anything other than SH3.

That's not really an argument against it. You could say the same about the amount of bullets and that it has been explored enough during the last 15 years. Bullet cancelling has become part of the standard formula for their scoring systems by now.

I can't say that I'm happy about it, but this game will most definitely feature heavy bullet cancelling.

This time I want a DDP with one loop where the chain starts in 1st stage and end after final boss battle.

I referred to them as the definition of over the top canceling Udderdude alluded to:
Omake — you cancel bullets by being near them, or by going in and out of kakusei;
Arrange — you cancel bullets by shooting them;
iPhone mode — you cancel bullets by tapping bullets them.

It's going to be really hard to top something like that, heh.

And you're expecting what from a game that has "maximum" in the title? ^_-

The next game is going to be called Dodonpachi Saidaifukkatsu.
These names are getting longer by the second.

Which have stupidly long chain counts, that they have to make it a vertizontal so it can display all the numbers.

Is that the ecchi pachinko version of the game? I heard that for each point milestone you reach, the Element Daughters take off bits of clothing.

I think they'd make it a hori, and license the Darius Burst AC cab from Taito in that case.

Or use the cab but make it a vertizontal with DOJ hard difficulty & chaining

TBH I hope they use a 9:14 screen, it would be intresting top see what CAVE could do with the extra space. Even if they moved the chain counter up into the top boarder it would be something

ESP.rade, Dangun Feveron, Mushihimesama, Muchi Muchi Pork, Pink Sweets, Ibara, Deathsmiles, Donpachi, Dodonpachi, Dodonpachi Daioujou, Ketsui.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the MAIN scoring mechanics of these games has nothing to do with bullet canceling. Not necessarily arguing that bullet canceling seems to be the mainstay scoring mechanic for Cave as of late, but to say that's all they've done is a bit narrow minded.

in comparison though: Mushi Futari Maniac/Ultra, Mushi Futari BL Maniac/God, Deathsmiles IIX, ESPGaluda, ESPGaluda 2, Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu, Guwange.

Can't wait to see this dress system... (doesn't sound good...)

If the gameplay's solid I guess I won't mind some lolification, but I was really hoping they'd rein that in (pipedream, I know).

The only thing comes into mind about the dress system... perhaps you have the ship and the dress up applies to the doll you choose. Maybe the pilot is female or something? sounds weird.

Being Japanese, you can't really assume Dress refers to the female article of clothing, or even clothing at all. It could just as easily refer to ship or weapon customization. There's no way to know.

The elemental dolls come back as the actual ships and fly through. Using special power ups, you can increase the speed and power of the ship, which in turn removes articles of clothing.

Also, clothes give special power ups like speed, power, shot, all that shit.

Suddenly, really excited for this. I liked Ar tonelico III enough to Platinum it.

Yeah it'll be something along these lines...
I haven't actively browsed/used this forum in many years and it's no longer an accurate representation of me.

I have retired from genre-specific content creation after 13 years, but I'll always love this little genre in my own personal way.

I'm inexorably reminded of Final Fantasy X-2.

Think about it. We have a sequel to a well-recieved game with a Dress System and prsumably more focus on the female characters, and there's a wonky suffix added to the title rather than a whole new game.

Please please don't screw this up and add a massage minigame, CAVE...

Cute girls outsell space ships? Confirmed.

I'm a bit disappointed that the DDP series is going to turn into an all-out chick fight. I've got no problems with girls in shoot-em-ups, but DDP was always about space ships and helicopters for me. I'd prefer the girls have their own series. Whatever it takes to make money though. I'd prefer lolis and profit over their arcade division shutting down.

This might be Cave's last arcade game, maybe the DDP name is just being slapped on so they can exit the market the same way they entered it. If that's the case, they may as well stuff it full of ridiculous over-the-top nudity to match the other elements in the games.

I mean, that's probably what they've wanted to do all along.
