I believe it's a time zone thing.
Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
Sorry, I'm from New Zealand. It came out here around 1:00 A.M.
This is me in the spotlight for all of a couple of hours at best.

Also, Ultra Mode warning.

Ultra Mode is alright, the slow-down for some of the patterns can be pretty finicky and not so smooth.\
The controls feel a lot better in this, let me know if anyone else thinks so.
Auto-bomb is on by default but if it's on, you lose three bombs at once I think or it might be two, instead of you self-bombing and only losing one. On ultra-mode, not sure about the other two modes, i never got hit on Normal Mode / Original or Maniac
Hell Difficulty is the game with its original bullet patterns FYI. I've been playing on Normal.

I'm getting this as well, but it's not available here yet.Demetori wrote:Games out now!
Cave, I am your slave... Geezus this is a good game, the lack of Arrange mode is WELL made up for Maniac Mode and Ultra Mode, single stage scoring and the ability to make these already difficulty modes harder, plus a neat translation. High quality artwork for all of the app this time, the game itself is like the others, maybe a bit better looking.
It's also only $4.00 USD, $6 NZD, dirt cheap. You can't not get this (unless you don't own a device that can play it)

Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
Can anyone verify that it runs properly on an iPad 1? I know the iPad version of Espgaluda 2 requires an iPad 2 to run, just wanted to make sure this will run on my device before I get it.
Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
I can't confirm it works on an iPad since I don't have one but I'm assuming yes from the description, since this app is universal.
Snippet from the description:
- This game is compatible for iPhone 3GS & up.
iPod touch 3rd Generation & up (iOS 4.1 & later), and iPad devices (iOS 4.2 & later).
I'd imagine running it on iOS 5.0 is a must.
This app uses an assload of memory so the iPod Touch 3rd Generation etc will crash a lot when running Game Center to see achievements and leader-boards in-game. The game itself is fine, I have run it on an iTouch 3G and iPhone 3GS and it plays fine just crashes in menus sometimes.

Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
Crashes like crazy on my iPod Touch 4th gen, several times during a run now, and sometimes gets stuck on loading screens. I just shut it off and maybe it will run better when I boot it up again.
And man, I hate that annoying OpenFeint / Gamecenter crap with a burning passion. "I don´t want these awesome features", and that "GameFeed" still pops up.
The actual game though, wow
I just played DDP:R and Espgaluda on my Touch today, and for some weird reason Mushi seems to look even crisper despite the scaling. It´s just such a gorgeous game, and I vastly prefer it over the slightly tacky Futari aesthetics. The lush landscapes, the massive stage 3 battleship bug, the wobbling bullets (I especially love the oblong spinning ones), the lasers with their subtle afterglow, the mesmerizing hitbox-orb - not to mention the fantastic soundtrack, with the energetic, percussive stage 3 track, followed by the dreamy stage 4 tune. Probably the most well-rounded Cave game to date
My first run through the game was on Novice setting (with as many as 8 bullets on screen at the same time
), just to soak in how great everything looks and sounds.
The touch input is very precise as usual. It suits this game a lot better than DDP:R for instance - the bullet patterns somehow encourage large, sweeping motions (something people have been saying a lot ever since the game came out). I love how you can go all the way from ultra-easy baby mode all the way to Ultra density - it spans the whole development process of a shmup player from absolute beginner to hardcore veteran!
Now, let´s see if a reboot will stop it from crashing. I better disable Game Center.
EDIT: Nope, still keeps crashing during the game
At least Sonic CD just popped up in the app store as well.

I don't understand why other people with iTouch 4G are experiencing crashes... I use one as well, I don't have an iPhone 4 or 4s, it's crashed on the Leader-board and history pages but never in game... it doesn't even hitch for me, runs smooth as silk.
Make sure you're not running any apps in the background, the game is incredibly memory intensive..This thing SERIOUSLY sucks the life out of the iPod Touch 4G on Ultra/Hell

1cc on first try with 3 lives left... but it was still amazing. The quality level of the cave iOS games is far superior than most others on the market.
Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
How does scoring work?
Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
Same as the original game.

Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
What is the 'original' game that this is based on? Need to read a guide to get my head around the scoring mechanics. I'm familiar with Futari 1.5 on Xbox 360 but this seems different.

Oh, it doesn´t just crash, it crashes HARD, first it stutters for a few seconds, then freezes, and then dissolves into the homescreen. Other apps that crashed just go away silently.Demetori wrote:I don't understand why other people with iTouch 4G are experiencing crashes... I tried everything: Close every single background app, reboot the device, even disable spotlight search and notification center... nothing helped. That is, until I disabled WiFi so OpenFeint couldn´t connect - and suddenly everything is fine! I kinda suspected that useless piece of code was interfering with the main program. Or maybe that "CAVE WORLD" stuff had something to do with it.
(I´ve had problems with programs crashing and general interface speed every since 5.0 - sometimes the lock sound comes a good 5-8 seconds after I press the lock button, whereas before the update it just played instantly, the way it´s supposed to be. I´m planning to reset it to factory settings and not do a restore and instead try to see if that helps - but I wish I didn´t have to deal with that shit, I thought the whole premise of having such a locked-down device is that everything just works smooth as butter all the time.)
...
And I have to say, playing this game on a touchscreen feels just RIGHT. The other ports played relatively well for what they are, but somehow Mushihimesama just flows so well with my finger. It´s pure, creamy joy. When I played the PS2 port I used to constantly run into bullets by accident, something that just doesn´t usually happen with me in other shmups. I think it has something to do with being able to change speeds very quickly on a touchscreen, it helps a lot in this particular game (and wouldn´t be as helpful in, say, Espgaluda or Deathsmiles).
I´m really surprised how much I´m loving this - and now I realize there has always been something that bothers me with other Cave titles (the only exceptions being DDP, Ketsui and Progear), but I can´t think of a single element that I don´t like here.

Just a little sidenote -
I´ve just been reading this interview Spadgy linked:
http://spong.com/feature/10110562/Inter ... neki-Ikeda
...so I checked out some footage of V-V/Grindstormer, and was surprised to see these "spinning tic tac" bullets to
be all over the place in this game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyDsbMtmt30
I really love the way those bullets look in Mushihimesama, so that must be a little reference to V-V, Ikedas first game. I can´t think of any earlier Cave game that had these bullets.

Enjoying this one a lot but I am yet to complete a run, as it has crashed each and every time.
It seems to happen on stage 1, or at the start of stage 5.
Hoping they can patch so it doesn't crash so much.
Have tried Touch4 and iPhone4.
The sound normally cuts in and out just before it crashes.

Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
I've been playing it off and on for the last hour with no problems at all...
I have a jailbroken iphone 4 w/ IOS 5.0.1
What's everyone else running?

Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
I played it on my Non Jailbroken Iphone 4 (5.0.1) and my JB Ipad 2 (4.3.3) without any problems. No crashes yet... I REALLY love it, now bring Futari!

Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
Try turning off WiFi (airplane mode), it helped on my device, maybe it does on yours. I believe it has something to do with OpenFeint, Game Center or CAVE World.AimeeSH wrote: The sound normally cuts in and out just before it crashes.

This need patching as crashing now (wasnt before) and what the hell is this openfeint game feed crap, keeps saying oops an error has occured.
dont know if this is related but doesnt look like my ipod touch 4g is handling this very well either, just does not seem as smooth as the other cave ios releases.
Please Cave fix it now !!

I've not had any crashes yet, but the loading times are pretty horrific.

Re: Mushihimesama (Bug Princess) next up for iOS
Make sure you guys are setting the difficulty to "Hell" if you want the same bullet patterns from the original game. Still not sure what to think about the fact the game has 3x4 difficulties - why not just stick to the original 3?
No crashes on iPad 2 running iOS 5.0 here. The OpenFeint gamerfeed wouldn't load when I tried it last night (even though it still worked in other games) but it didn't cause issues otherwise here.

Yeah, having 12 difficulty settings is a bit odd. Just played Ultra on NoviceStarCreator wrote:Make sure you guys are setting the difficulty to "Hell" if you want the same bullet patterns from the original game. By the way, I just remembered that I have bought a capacitive stylus some time ago, this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Just-Mobile-AluPe ... 946&sr=8-3
Makes controlling Reco SO much easier. It eliminates the drag the screen normally has, and holding a big aluminum pen is much more satisfying than the "finger painting" control. Especially quick movement is much more precise than with the naked finger, and playing for longer stretches of time is much more comfortable.
