How do you know your coin chain number? What exactly are you counting? I assume that YOU have to do the counting, that there is no counter.

BTW, nice job Plasmo. I still haven't gotten to 1-5 -- -- though I haven't played in quite some time.

The coin chain counter is directly under your score...it disappears after 1 and 2 counts, but when it hits 3 it seems to stay visible until the chain is broken or you die.

Christ, this is the third screenshot I've posted today...

Image

This being from MAME...can't recall if the DC version features this, and I can't check because my DC crapped out again. No idea on the PS2 version...

Thanks much, I see it now. That's a beautiful screenshot, btw.

I'll look to see whether the DC and PS2 versions have this counter next time I get a chance. I'm quite sure neither the DC nor the PS2 version lists your highest chain with your score in the scoreboard, so you would have to keep an eye on the number as you're playing.

OK, I looked in the manuals of the DC and PS2 versions and neither shows or (as far as I can tell) mentions a chain counter. No wonder I've always found talk of chaining so confusing.

I'll have to play these versions again when I get a chance just to be sure, but I'm doubtful that either has a counter. But why would they take such a thing out of the game? :?

you can only see the chain counter in the game it wont show up on the scoreboard. And this is always the same no matter if you play the naomi, dc or ps2 version.
btw another question: are there any differences in gamespeed between the dc and ps2 version like in mushi?!(mushi on the ps2 is a bit faster than the pcb)

I haven't played mame, but I don't recall noticing a difference in speed between the PS2 and DC versions. Most of the differences that I can now remember had to do with bullet patterns. Sometimes the PS2 patterns seemed a bit easier to navigate.

It's somewhat random. You have to sorta of "see" the columns of emptiness that it forms. But the columns move left and right and you need to move with them. The movement is random as the boss drifts around differently each time. There is no safe spot.

On full rank, it's incredibly difficult to dodge (my reaction time is not good enough to see the columns). On lower rank I can do it.

What I do is I stay dead center at the bottom, and look at the spot about a character length up from your character. A bullet in the third ring will be aimed at you, so when it's about to hit you, tap left twice(each tap about a charcter's length). It's tricky at first, but much easier once the rhythm is down.

The other attack where the boss keeps spraying crap while moving is trickier to me. Sometimes the pattern shifts right to left, then cuts back right, other time it just goes right to left. I just bomb it since it's unpredictable(plus Marion get points :) ).

And I make sure the boss is destroyed quickly after this because the patterns that follow sucks.

Were you fully powered-up? It wouldn't make much of a difference in my own case: I would be dead in less than 20 seconds, I'm sure. But you may have a fighting chance if you only have a few power-ups.

I find that in the second loop being fully powered up really helps because you can charge up for a level one attack much quicker.

Seems if are at level three? where you shoot three shots plus two shooting stars, it takes a long time for your gauge to reach level one.

Crap score, but I got to 1-5! Now I've gotten to 1-5 in all my favorite Psikyo games. Time to get to 1-6.
