You have impressive collection, however, I missed the picture of your g/f before you removed it.

I used to have a similar massive collection, but it became too large and definitely too much to worry about. I sold most of it off and liberated myself free of numerous packages from Japan.

That picture was removed because it was ultimately unnecessary, and attracted the wrong kind of comments.

So a few people gave you shit. In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? If you stop doing something like this over a few people using you as a verbal punching bag, you won't enjoy yourself much... on-line or in real life. If you feel like posting your collection, post it. If people like it, great. If they don't, oh well.

Thanks guys, for all the posts & the PM's.

The thing is, is shmups isn't that nice a place sometimes - which is surprising, because it really should be.
I've been called a chauvinist, a geek, a bragger, been told I'm building alliances, the list goes on!

From where I sit at home, this doesn't really reflect who I am at all - and that's why I pulled the thread. If the attention it brings makes people perceive me that way, I'm not happy.

I'm a long-term collector with a passion for videogaming, but a geek? I think Joshf would love that to be true. He probably thinks I bought my girlfriend of six years off of the internet and live at home with my parents.
As for being a bragger? Well the thread is an opportunity to show off, I agree. But I only posted my old pics originally because I thought I'd bring some colour to the forum. No nefarious intent.
I'd love to see others do the same.

However you boys are right. I woke up this morning and saw all your PM's and posts, and realised what's the point in really giving a shit about people that small and that bored. There are plenty of ties I've made here with people to really care about small timers who are sad enough to run off to the Turbo forums and open entire threads about me (eh Josh, you flaming geek.)

As such, perhaps the thread will get a resurrection and a nice update. I could always photograph those SNK posters I said I'd get around to doing at some point.

The wrong thing you did was to not post your collection in the dedicated thread...nobody cares of a thread only for 1 collection (and moreover to see 95% of really common games that everybody seen 100x on the net...)

Now, opening a poll just to convince you you have friends (or life) here is just pathetic...

The only thing that's annoying me is that you seem to be mistaking the shmups forum for your personal blog. There are already several collective threads for stuff like cool recent purchases, personal collections, etc.

Like undamned correctly pointed out, this is a "Look at my Penis"-thread, no matter how you word it. And just because some people don't enjoy looking at your penis, that doesn't mean they are jealous and don't have penises of their own (and possibly even larger ones than yours).

If lots of people were to start threads like yours, it would make the Off Topic section even worse than it already is. What's keeping you from using the collective "Look at my Penis"-thread and posting your pictures there? Not enough attention?

Personally, I don't care for showing off stuff, but I have a suggestion: Create a proper alphabetical index in the first post of the collective thread, linking to each person's post inside the thread.
