hehe thanks, one of us has got to break 100 trillion sooner or later!toby wrote:nice score, and thanks for giving me a reason to return to this game.
I don't exactly know how to properly video capture stuff, FRAPS doesn't seem to work on my computer and the only other program I got working ended up slowing everything down. Do note there are some 200 trillion+ replays at super-play that are definitely more impressive anyway (and when it comes to shmup replays, I think most people would rather download and watch them since youtube tends to badly rape the quality)Mills wrote:Wouldnt mind seeing you upload your skills on youtube because most of the Gigawing replays there are lame.
If you're MAME-savvy, you can watch my replay at MARP though!

Good heavens; This game supports DC VGA!
I'd not even considered trying it, mostly because Bangai-O doesn't support it and I'd heard that Gunbird 2 doesn't. I've been wanting to play this game for a long time, and now it's on. My score's not much improved, but I did one-life to the train stage boss ("flying pancake"?) and actually saw stage 4 for the first time. Right when the stage started, I said, "Wow, they are float-" *BSZHH* Game Over.
It still doesn't make the chart yet, but I'm experimenting with characters and trying to get comfortable with facing the bosses. After taking a non-spoiling look at Randorama's excellent ST, I'm also understanding more about the scoring system, and will be trying to maximize my scoring since I think it should technically be higher for the stage that I reached. For now, though, here is my new starting point:
icepick - 1860456132850 - Isha - Stage 4 - DC

Edit- There, see? I didn't do so well on this run, but this time I got to see more of stage 4. Pretty neat level, but I knew trouble was coming when I heard that familiar music... The weird ship comes back with bigger guns, and I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time. Again, not enough to make the chart, but still:
icepick - 2939465733910 - Stage 4 - Isha - DC
Iron out my mistakes and I'm there, but I plan to do better than that.

I had to quote this, because I just happened to notice this technique on my own last night while I was playing against the boss. Very handy when you find yourself in a bind, which happens a lot for me.Dale wrote:Quick tip's for the lava boss,if your having trouble with the part of the boss that shoots out the blue spread slivers just get close to him then let him fire them one way then shift to other side(this takes persice timing but once you learn to do it it amkes it allot easier).

Okay, can finally quit playing this bastard.

The game is displayed in the DC's infamous interlaced mode (I think this has to do w/ CPS2's weird pixels). 2D games that don't support VGA are, AFAIK, the 15khz non-interlacedgames (Gunbird, Bangaioh, Twinkle Star Sprites, etc.)icepick wrote:Good heavens; This game supports DC VGA!
