It's hard to play when roving packs of insane midgets keep knocking on your door every three minutes to demand candy from you.

did a lotta that last night. Stumbled upon and won a beer pong tournament on accident. Bounced a shot off a guy's tooth fairy ruffled part of his costume to earn two cups during a clutch

Davey - Super Buffet S.T. - 2,728,621 - 5 - Gensuke - 4,912 - MAME

I made more progress tonight in two runs than in like 10 last night. :? Might not have much more time this week, though.
landshark wrote:But the biggest problem is just time (and I *hate* *hate* *hate* chaining).
Luckily I've had enough time to maintain my middle-of-the-pack status every week, but there were definitely some weeks where I didn't have as much time as I'd have liked. Ironically, I think I had the most spare time during Star Force and Blazing Star weeks, ugh (maybe it just felt that way, though).

I actually don't mind the chaining in this game... when I can pull it off. Although I must say, playing a couple rounds of Feveron last night after playing Guwange felt so liberating.

Nice game, almost as nice as Batrider. Hopefully I get around to playing more than an hour or two.

Yeah..I'm just gonna post scores that are all 1s, 2s, and 3s. I don't do language. English was already a stretch for me. :P

DJ Incompetent - Drink & Fly - 2,219,758 - 5 - Gensuke - 3322

So..um...what if I told ya that watching the game demos actually taught me how to play better?

I was totally tryin' to rock out with The Chain. But I'm afraid Fleetwood Mac doesn't carry the same charisma as Kenny Loggins..

..and I got penilized for bein' punny...

What does that mean? Verified by who? And didn't someone already demonstrate in another thread that WolfMAME replays can be forged? Anyway, I'd like to see actual replay files here unless they are business secrets :)

And seems like Kosame's shikigami isn't a nine tails fox, but an eight tails fox which just don't exist in real life... only valid foxes encountered in the japanese countryside are 1,5 and 9 tails foxes. Much like the zen rock gardens, the rocks only come in piles of 2,3 and 5 rocks.

Luckily Gaijin Punch's translations explain this, Kosame's fox is a cub of a god-like nine tails fox, but was missing one tail in birth and therefore had to become a lowly shikigami in a CAVE game

Zakk - Team Cowboy - 3,836,921 - Stage 4 - Shishin - 5947

The game before this actually ended on stage 5 with 300k less points. I died because I forgot I was walking on a roof...

Also this game is really confused about max chain. I had a chain around 4500 or so on the stage 2 boss, and I died (of all the embarassing places...). Then on stage 3 I brought the chain back up to 5947 and took a hit at the 2 big face/pot things just before the boss first shows itself. THIS is the chain it recorded. However I brought it up to 6796 during the 3rd boss fight before dying AGAIN. Why it didn't pick this one, I have no idea.

The max chain figure would be more interesting if the game wasn't constantly butchering it.

Did I say that they were MAME inputs? No.
All AVI-based replays recorded as I play. My team have already seen all my replays for current posted records. You won't get to until it's released at the end of the week.

What about the ALL video of Air Gallet from last week? I'd really be interested in seing it.

I wish to apologize to my teammates. I don't think I will be able to post a score this week. I have never played Guwange before and I find it terribly difficult to get into. I don't see me learning even basic technique until the week ends. This week people who already spent time with the game had more than just a headstart. [/bitter]

Was going to release all six replays at the end of this week, but since you asked.

 Why do tears suddenly appear whenever Guwange is near? So many good runs destroyed by the final form of the last boss, don't have spit to show for it. I need a new hobby.

It was the same with Batrider. These games are way too complicated to learn quickly, especially since the best gamers might want to keep their trade secrets to themselves. I had played Guwange before, but it was back when I didn't even know what a chain was, so it didn't really help =D

Air Gallet was a nice choice, but I would have preferred something like Warning Forever, which is very quick to learn but takes serious skills to master... Then again, I'm having fun learning the tricks to scoring in Guwange also, even if I don't have enough time to allocate to pursuing the top scorers.

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to seeing Icarus' videos after the tournament (now downloading the Air Gallet vid). Still, if some decent scorer wants to post AVI/WolfMAME replays before the competition ends, I'm interested.

It's really not quite as complex as it seems, a quick read of one of the STs should get you off to the races, more or less, and with a few practice rounds you should get most of the sense of what's being talked about. Believe me, if I can comprehend it, so can anyone.

Yes, i think this is true of most Cave games, Progear would have been worse in this respect as Dennis has a massive score, nobody here had (or has yet that i can see) anything really good at guwange so it's not a major headstart. I think teams that can't play cave stuff should have voted for Feveron, that could have been won by any of the teams here as it's easy to learn and basic shmupping skills are all you need for a good score.

I think the best game that could have been chosen for this week would have been Dangun Feveron Time Attack. :)
