A few boards I bought over the last couple months from some great members here.

More NMK goodness!

VP1 above is the old version cart (already have the USA/New version). Incredible how different this version feels with changed enemy patterns and powerup system. Forget about fussing over 100% level completes, here its just manic survival style play.

Picked up Demolish Fist on Atomiswave a few days ago. I would say this is my last PCB purchase for quite a while unless something must have pops up. I'll say that then have 10 things on the way next week, but money is extremely tight for the foreseeable future, ugggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh.

For Dave K.,

What is your personal opinion on the Macross II PCB? Do you think it should've have been a tate game instead of a yoko game to begin with?

I like your comments about the Seibu Kaihatsu Viper Phase 1 original JPN version...for the USA arcades, we had to be content with the changes made to it with the Viper Phase 1 U.S.A. version. Still a cool arcade shmup title worth owning nevertheless. ^_~

Hi PCEFX! I enjoy games with score attack mode, and Macross II is basically score attack with levels! I'm not surprised NMK going yoko with this game, given that is their dominant play style. Personally I think their best games are the vertical ones.

As for VP1, I think the changes in USA/New version make it a lot easier and accessible to audiences over here, so probably best to start out with that. Original is just brutal.

Thanks for the clarification Domino. I wasn't sure since we know UPL published NMK stuff before, and they used their chips. The sprite style also seems very NMK like (square bullets, etc.)

I haven't actively browsed/used this forum in many years and it's no longer an accurate representation of me.

I have retired from genre-specific content creation after 13 years, but I'll always love this little genre in my own personal way.

True on the sprite style.

The three NMK stuff that UPL published were Task Force Harrier, USAAF Mustang and Black Heart.

The rest were all UPL goodies. :P

Nice one 8)

Yours looks different to mine, mine has a giant cap on the back instead of that metal cased one, I wonder why. I guess its no big deal though really.

edit:

:?

I have a feeling it might have been repaired now.

I had an Ibara PCB (sold now) that turned out to be an Ibara Black Label reprogrammed back to being a vanilla Ibara. It turned out after a very nerdy thread about Cave PCB serial numbers that Cave reprogrammed a few. I have some pictures and details on the serial number somewhere. Perhaps that's the deal with your board Kernow?

That's probably wishful thinking, as your serial number doesn't ring any bell, but maybe...

I don't know man, I guess it must be factory as other people have commented about their mushi boards having the same cap. Perhaps it was converted from that, or its just .... normal.

It's a bloody capacitor!

Solder the "right" one in if you're going to worry about it :)

my mushi is the only SH3 board I own that has that capaciter on it also.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I bought a bunch of untested stuff in boxes from someone on Jamma+.

Super Cup Finals - dead
Section Z bootleg - dead
Flying Shark bootleg - works, sold
Bomb Jack - repaired (really easy - video board on backwards...)
Bomb Jack bootleg - dead
Rygar bootleg 1 - repaired, sold
Rygar bootleg 2 - dead
Golfing Greats - works, sold
World Cup 90 bootleg 1 - works, sold
World Cup 90 bootleg 2 - parts board
Kung Fu Master bootleg - dead
Solomons Key bootleg - dead
Ultimate Tennis - works, sold
Operation Wolf - untested
Touch And Go - works, sold
Hyper Olympic - dead
Golden Axe bootleg - dead (cpu missing)
Flying Shark 1 - repaired, sold
Flying Shark 2 - on repair bench now
Super Pang - repaired, sold
Mikie 1 - repaired
Mikie 2 - repaired
Rastan - repaired (keeping it)

There might even have been a couple more in there - a real grab bag of good and bad, the whole deal was justified when Rastan and Super Pang got fixed, rest is all icing on the cake :) I wanted some stuff to learn how to fix arcade boards again with.

Yeah, well one is toast, not even going to try - the other tries to boot when I hook probes up to it, so ..

Going to take a while I think.

Send Kern the one that is toast. He breaks all his boards anyways.

Fixed it.

Probably be selling shortly, I think I've found a common fault on Flying Shark boards and I'm using it as a diagnosis companion for the third one at the moment.
