Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I get it, it was a joke. I still hope you keep those eyeball-raping AI abominations walled in their own threads.
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Please do not answer with quotes from someone else when I am talking directly to you, its hugely annoying. Keep your fucking AI shit walled somewhere else where similar dimwits can appreciate it, this thread is not the place for it.

Do I need to repeat it?
KEEP YOUR FUCKING AI SHIT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Really, this is a thread for AWESOME STUFF YOUVE JUST BOUGHT, not for AWFUL AI SLOP WHICH IS ALREADY DROWNING THE WHOLE FUCKING INTERNET.
Idiots like you should be banned for life.

Hope you're okay. I'll pray for you as soon as I find some spare time.

I feel great, thanks! Haven't exploded like this in internet for years. You really pushed my buttons.
And no, there's no point editing since I can't delete posts. I'll leave them for mods to look at so they can decide whether to ban me. This level of rage I just displayed should not really be tolerated here. But I'm not sorry either. I'm so tired seeing AI slop on a message board I consider a last haven away from normal crap of the internets.
Anyway, I'm letting you off the hook now. Let's go back to the normal topic. Mods, feel free to put me on timeout, my behavior has been appalling. You shouldn't be okay with it.

I agree with MJR. We have threads for memes and if people start posting AI jokes in this thread, there will be no end to it. Sometimes it's best to be a bit serious about staying on topic.
Anyways, awful picture but I recently got the two on the left:

Yeah, I already picked up a RAM plus MIDI card that should hopefully arrive soon. Not sure I will pick up any of the original Roland modules though, as they're a bit pricey and there are much cheaper modern MIDI emulators available that achieve the same result.Sengoku Strider wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 7:00 pm All that Roland audio gear compatible with it is killer too.

The best part is the side of the machine.

I also have a Microvitec 1438S for CRT gaming, but would need to make an adapter for it first.
An original Sharp monitor would be great, cuz you can then control it via the computer through a special i/o, but importing one would be huge pain in the ass.

Currently I'm using this small tri-sync industrial IPS display.

Meh, the CRT control cable is really meant more for when using it as a normal TV. In computer mode, all it really does is put the monitor in sleep mode automatically during power off and wakes it up again on boot.CIT wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 9:39 pm The best part is the side of the machine.

The largest Sharp monitor was only 21" (and they super rare), I swapped my 15" og for a 29" trisync arcade monitor in a box, and it was quite a nice upgrade.
If you do go CRT, you can easily rewire a Famicom 3D System for LCD shutters. Playing Castlevania and Dragon Spirit in 3D is one of the coolest things that can't be emulated.
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Ah, OK, I was under the impression you could also control some adjustments like brightness, etc. via the PC that way, but since a Sharp CRT is off the table anyway, I didn't really inform myself about the specifics.SuperDeadite wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 4:05 am Meh, the CRT control cable is really meant more for when using it as a normal TV. 29" trisync arcade monitors aren't exactly easy to come by here in Germany either, and my space is quite limited (already have a cab and a regular 15kHz 29" CRT for consoles here), so I think I'll have to keep it small for now.
I actually have the Famicom 3D System, as well as a couple of FM Towns games that I believe support 3D too, so that would be super nice. Do you happen to have the pinout for it?SuperDeadite wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 4:05 amIf you do go CRT, you can easily rewire a Famicom 3D System for LCD shutters. Very simple, just 3 wires: sync, 5v, and ground. Everything you need is here:CIT wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:54 amAh, OK, I was under the impression you could also control some adjustments like brightness, etc. via the PC that way, but since a Sharp CRT is off the table anyway, I didn't really inform myself about the specifics.SuperDeadite wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 4:05 am Meh, the CRT control cable is really meant more for when using it as a normal TV. I think a CRT would bring out the most in the image quality probably. Those old Nihon PCs had grainy pixels that look sharp and awesome on a CRT, but can tend to look a bit, well, grainy on a digital display. Especially anything ported from the PC-9X version. For example, if you look at this image on a CRT, the dotted areas look more solid, but still sharp:I also have a Microvitec 1438S for CRT gaming, but would need to make an adapter for it first.

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
It's basically a no-name, naked display of the type that is usually used to replace old displays on production machinery. They've been circulating in the Japanese PC scene and are very affordable, you see brand new ones pop up on Yahoo and Mercari from time to time. They don't have a stand, so I'm simply using one of those tablet stands for it, which has the added advantage that it's freely rotatable. Good for some shmupping on other systems. ^^
I've tried my CRT with my PC-9821 (the one below the X68000 in the picture) and indeed it's great! PC-98 is simple though, because any old 31kHz monitor will work. For X68000 you really need something that can handle 15kHz as well though, and those monitors are difficult to come by and not well not well documented. (There are even some mid-res 24kHz games for the X68000, but just very few, and nothing exclusive you couldn't just play on PC-98.) The Microvitec 1438 is probably the easiest 15/31kHz CRT to find in Europe, but the pin out is slightly different than the X68000, so I need to figure out how to make an adapter first. My dream CRT would be something like a NEC XM-29, but good luck finding one of those.vol.2 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 2:55 pm I think a CRT would bring out the most in the image quality probably. Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Ah, that explains it. Yes, those kinds of monitors are rare nowadays for sure. I had an NEC Multisync that did 15, 28 and 31 back in the late 80s, but it's long, long gone. There is one list I know of that has at least models to look for if you ever get curious. https://www.cocopedia.com/wiki/index.ph ... A_Monitors
Well it's good you've got that one! An adapter doesn't sound like the hardest thing to do. Maybe this is some help https://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=av:japanese_rgb-15The Microvitec 1438 is probably the easiest 15/31kHz CRT to find in Europe, but the pin out is slightly different than the X68000, so I need to figure out how to make an adapter first.
Yep. I've been looking for one of those for years and years. I've seen a few come and go on ebay maybe 15 or more years ago, but it never lined up conveniently for me. If I think about all the great monitors I've had to pass on over the years it makes me sad lol.My dream CRT would be something like a NEC XM-29, but good luck finding one of those.![]()

I still got one... but it badly needs an expert's thorough servicing.
