Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Just had a whack at Sorcery Saga a little bit ago; I'm hardly a roguelike expert, but so far it seems solid, at least for a relative newbie like myself. The basic "you act once, they act once" formula is here, as are the "die and lose everything you didn't stash" and "start every dungeon at level 1" mechanics, but you recover HP quickly as you walk around, and have a little AI companion to occasionally lend you a hand. You bag has limited space, but even if you don't scoot mid-dungeon to store/sell the loot, your critter pal eats almost anything (and levels up by doing so), so you can still get a bit of use out of that weak shield you stumbled across. Just unlocked the "prepare curry mid-dungeon" ability, but haven't had the chance to use it yet...speaking of curry, the entire game is based around a quest to prepare a legendary plate of food, so obviously the story is heavy on the cute and silly (warning: theme song of irritating catchiness). Visuals are nothing special (are they ever, in a roguelike?), but the 2D art looks nice on the Vita screen. At the very least, one of the better impressions I've had of a game with Idea Factory's name on it.

Interesting. Hadn't heard of Sorcery Saga before your post. Definitely interested in checking this out.

Yeah, that Sorcery Saga sounds great. I looked at it, got excited, saw Idea Factory, and figured hope was lost.
Will definitely be checking that one out.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Sony has removed the exploitable game from the Japanese store. EU and US are likely to follow soon.
@Skykid
I assume you`ve already installed the game? Because if not, you better do it now.

Final Fantasy X is getting a physical release... X-2 isn't. It's included as a download voucher with X.

Just twiddling my thumbs for those files now.

See! That's the Sony difference. Nintendo (with its 3DS / VC library) just can't compete...Skykid wrote:In the name of good video games, I'm going to be giving it Dariusburst for Christmas.replayme wrote: I'm sorry, but in the name of Pro-Choice, I'm choosing to keep my Vita baby classy and pure!
I think I'll stick with my EU PS+ account. But the US store definitely does serve up an amazing array of quality PS1 AND PSP software.

The exploit game isn't on the EU store anymore. Well, at least I can't see it...

It doesn't matter though... Things are looking up for the handheld. Just need a few more of those titles with similar calibre (like Monster Hunter).

BulletMagnet, did you get the limited edition of Sorcery Saga, complete with baby accessories? I opted for the regular edition myself, as my kids are way past that stage.
Interesting that GameStop opted not to stock this game-- even online! Amazon, on the other hand, has both editions.

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
There are a handful of irritating elements as per usual (off the cuff, moving money from your wallet to the bank is WAY too slow; no idea who didn't slap QR around a bit for that one), but at least so far most of them are minor in nature, and the basic flow of the game holds up well. I will note, once again, that at least for the opening segments it's not a particularly "hardcore" roguelike in terms of challenge (supposedly it gets tougher later, but I'll hafta see), and moreover there's a lot of dialogue, most of it voiced (in Japanese) in between dungeon runs, so if that sort of thing gets on your nerves that could be a downside too.dunpeal2064 wrote:Yeah, that Sorcery Saga sounds great. Yeah, it's a totally useless LE, but I had to spring for it: I have a hard time resisting such open appeals to silliness in The Age of Angrybrown.BulletMagnet, did you get the limited edition of Sorcery Saga, complete with baby accessories?
Hm? There seems to be a listing for the "regular" edition on their website. I did only see the LE on Amazon though, which is odd, considering I emailed Aksys a few weeks back asking if it would appear elsewhere and they said it would. Guess either plans changed or a wire got crossed someplace.Interesting that GameStop opted not to stock this game-- even online!

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Yes, GameStop lists it, but that "currently unavailable" listing looks to be a permanent condition for new copies. For some reason there is a copy at one store in all of Ohio, somewhere very far from here. I was at a store today, and they thought it was a peculiar situation.
EDIT: That limited edition was very tempting, I admit. I just couldn't go that route right now because I'm allegedly downsizing.

Question: you're going to get Darius Burst for your Vita? If so (great PSP game BTW...I own it), tell me how it looks on the Vita as compared to the PSP if you can, as well as how it looks on your HDTV screen.Skykid wrote:In the name of good video games, I'm going to be giving it Dariusburst for Christmas.replayme wrote: I'm sorry, but in the name of Pro-Choice, I'm choosing to keep my Vita baby classy and pure!
If I bought myself a Vita, would I have to repurchase it for the Vita, or is there a way to transfer UMD games to the Vita's memory?
Just wondering. Looks like I'm accruing enough Amazon credit to finally get one.
Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
The response was more to replayme not wanting to take his Vita's virginity. Dariusburst is unavailable on Vita any other way except via Cfw. Since my copy is on the other side of the world, this is the only way I'm going to get to play it on the move, and the sooner the better!boagman wrote: Question: you're going to get Darius Burst for your Vita? Guys in the know!
Now the TN-V4 is up, can anyone let me know if it's still okay to use my Vita's CMA to transfer files over (for the meantime) or if I should go via FTP immediately. CMA is obviously quicker and easier, but I don't want to take any risks.
Thanks much.

About the curry game: I thought releasing a full-price somewhat mediocre Vita game near christmas has to be a failure. Hope it won't affect the chance of future Aksys titles getting a retail release.
Your Vita won't automatically update to newest OFW without asking you, nor does Sony use it to deactivate titles already on your Vita. But if you want to use it and keep using, you might as well look into OpenCMA now, that way you won't have to worry at all.Skykid wrote:Guys in the know!

Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
The FTP method of file transfer requires eCFW(how else would you install the FTP utility on your Vita?). CMA`s the only way until you`ve got eCFW up and running.
Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
I only ever use Open CMA to transfer eCFW files. I would NOT recommend to do transfers using the stock version, not sure if it even works since it constantly phones home.
Do it like that: http://wololo.net/2013/12/17/release-tn ... more-17103
I'm going to test the new eCFW on my PS Vita TV later today.

I can now confirm that the TN-V4 eCFW works on PS Vita TV.

Yeah, but I guess that would hold for virtually all of their releases. Maybe it makes sense to spread out their releases or maybe they're just testing the Christmas market for cute curry-flavored dungeon crawlers.ZellSF wrote:About the curry game: I thought releasing a full-price somewhat mediocre Vita game near christmas has to be a failure. Re: The PS Vita Thread - Remote Play for all PS4 Games
Well, considering that they were nuts enough to release a localized Otome game on a UMD just a few months ago this is probably a relatively "sane" proposition for the likes of them, heh. On a more serious note, I'd guess they're taking the "only a handful of people will know this exists, a fair hunk of them will buy it, and we'll keep the print run low enough to make a bit of profit on this situation" route. They might also be banking on "niche" gamers who have little interest in the bazillion-sellers that flood the market this time of year and are looking for something a bit more up their alley.ZellSF wrote:About the curry game: I thought releasing a full-price somewhat mediocre Vita game near christmas has to be a failure. Or they could have just completely lost it. Whatever the case, hats off to them, heh.
