Re: The Fighting Games news thread
Code Mystics rather than M2.
Still might turn out good since their Steam ports of the KoF '98 and 2000 remakes turned out good. I also like their DS and iOS Atari Collections.

Re: The Fighting Games news thread
I really feel like we are going to see that happen bud !trap15 wrote:where's my mark of the wolves 2
It was mentioned recently in a interview with snk they like gave a hint that it was something they really want to do.
If it does happen will it be traditional 2d old school graphics,Or 3D 2d like kof XIV ??
I heard rumours that the sequel was like half finished back in the day .......

6: Play Weaponlord Immediately
7:Skullgirls
Oh yeah and One of them is seeded against Daigo in the early EVO bracket..

to this day, I'm still bothered that SNK kept saying "yeah, we're working on it" for like ten yearstrap15 wrote:where's my mark of the wolves 2
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I would kill for another fighting game to come out with the sprite work of Garou or 3rd Strike.null1024 wrote:to this day, I'm still bothered that SNK kept saying "yeah, we're working on it" for like ten yearstrap15 wrote:where's my mark of the wolves 2
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Re: The Fighting Games news thread
Seems KoF14 is getting a Collector's Edition in NA - 3-CD soundtrack, 144-page artbook, 20 bucks extra.

Haven't played it, but I am familiar with it. That's the idea though:DMOSQUITO FIGHTER wrote:Have you checked out Martial Masters?

BB Central Fiction on its way to NA sometime this winter.
Re: Fighting Game Hype Thread
Thanks asshole.
Moving on.. that KoF VHS footage posted recently is a good example of something that interests me - team competitions in fighting games.
I know for 1v1 fighters this is hard to do, and as I understand it team competitions are usually just winner stays on until a team runs out of players.
However some fighters allow for variation - like the hot seating we saw in the KoF vid. I like that idea of one person being responsible for one character per team: it also allows a dent in someone's health to carry over to the next player, if that makes sense. So even if a player loses their round, at least they did something for the team that carries forward.
Smash bros' lives/stocks make this interesting too in their 'crew battles.' If the first player wins, they enter the next match with the amount of lives they had remaining, I like the extra level of depth this adds to team competitions.
Good examples I can remember are
England vs Germany at Heir II the throne
Wales getting destroyed by 1 Ganondorf player
Went for something slightly similar with a friend recently too:
Skullgirls - all character Ironman
playing teams of 3 until our character pools are depleted.
scrubbing it up but better matches at 5:20, 9:06 (dat ending), 26:40 (the comeback)

Capcom abandons the Zenny ploy, unfinished DLC characters will be playable in the story mode, etc: http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2016/jun/ ... nity-here/
And something hilariously lame: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX0WA6yIZ7I
It seems like NRS took all the bad things about superheroes and wants to build their game around that shit. Superman wearing an armour? Great. Batman looking like a walking ad for Monster energy drinks? Awesome. Some folks are hyped over this even though it has no gameplay footage? Sweet.

Introducing Totally Not Gouken and She Kicks High.
Re: The Fighting Games news thread
Consider that the game's target audience attends The Gathering of The Juggalos annually and it'll make everything clear.LEGENOARYNINLIA wrote:It seems like NRS took all the bad things about superheroes and wants to build their game around that shit. Re: Fighting Game Hype Thread
I've been playing 3rd Strike with some of Stockholms best players for a couple of months now. Just kept it casual with about a session every one or two weeks with no practice in between. Starting to get a pretty functional Ken going. Game is so fucking fun!
Parries add so much to mind games, jump ins and okizeme.
Never played a fighting game as fast and reactive as this before. Getting down to match point with both players on 1-hit KO life is ridiculously hype.
Any other farmers playing 3S at the moment?

Very rarely, but for some reason it hasn't really clicked with me. Though I said the same about ST a while ago and a month or two in now I'm actually starting to feel half-decent and am enjoying it a lot. Still a Garou man though.

I took my time to click with 3S, but it's one of my main games* these days. I keep switching between SA1 Necro and SA2 Sean depending on the colour of my socks.
*I have about 5+ "main games". I can't commit to just one.

Haven't been able to play it recently sadly, though I'd really like to play it on a more regular basis again. Tried to play it with someone on fightcade some months ago but that didn't turn out so well (spikes, stutter, lag, ugh).

Wish they would've spent the time polishing the animations on the existing characters instead of turning this roster into the equivalent of MvC2.

Re: Fighting Game Hype Thread
Nice to hear, guys.
trap; I used to think Garou was better, but for the level I'm at now 3S seems more interesting. I'd have to learn guard cancels and some very advanced inputs to level up and I don't have that time to put in the game.
I agree with 3S taking time to "click".
I played Ryu when I tried it the first time but making the switch to Jinrai-Ken really opened up the game in terms of options to me. I love how you can always find good players too if you ask any OG to play, since they all know 3S is the best SF.

Re: Fighting Game Hype Thread
I actually started playing as Urien and Alex back in the day and stuck with just Urien in 2007 when visiting HK. I never had fun playing as that bastard, and I guess that's why the game didn't really click with me. Last December I gave the game another chance and decided to pick Necro. Somehow I clicked with the game instantly when I wasn't using a charge character, but still had normals with a lot of reach.
I picked up Sean when I was trying out the game on Fightcade with a pad and I wasn't taking it very seriously at first, but ended up really liking playing with such a risky character. I can happily say that sticking with Sean has improved how I play various fighting games. He's one of my all time favourite characters now.
In the PS2 port, are there any other bugs/glitches than Yang's super meter not charging from certain moves?

I always love reading interviews with top STG/FTG players. Especially since Tokido is probably the best fighting game player in history.

Re: The Fighting Games news thread
That's the one thing that's bugging me about the whole thing. There's like a tiny handful of videos where the animation looks something like it's vaguely decent [in particular, the Classic Kyo costume DLC video], but most of the footage I've seen of the game, even recent stuff, all the animation looks super jank.trap15 wrote:Wish they would've spent the time polishing the animations on the existing characters instead of turning this roster into the equivalent of MvC2.
