I'm not sure I like this game after 2 or 3 credits. Level 2 is full of lingering shit all over the screen. Yellow and green blobs lingering is fine, but then you have to deal with waterfalls and scenery as well. My fingers are acheing from mashing the fire button 20 billion times.
Feels very claustrophobic a bit like Blood money on the amiga. Everything takes 1000 hits to be destroyed, youll be lucky if it dies 5" from the left of the screen in some cases.
My right hand is numb and I can hardly type tihs. haha.
I must admit though, its an R-type clone and thats what this is. It does what it says on the tin. So its no major let down, just not my cup of tea.
Is this is a quality shmup? Sure I don't see why it shouldn't be considered up there with some others.
Is it playable to the point of enjoying it (for me)? Nope. In other shooters you can destroy a whole lot more with a lot less effort. I don't want to knacker my joystick or my fingers for a high score.
This will be on my DC from time to time, but i'd not play it for more than the standard credits given. Its too much of a chore.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Hear is the dialog:
PA:
Thank you for contacting Play-Asia.com.
Please don't worry. We have already been informed about that. Only new discs without problems would be sent.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Me:
Does that mean that you will send the Standard and Limited Edition of DUX only with the new CD and not with the faulty one which has been send out by Hucast since last week to those who ordered it directly with them?
PA:
Yes, you are right. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Best regards,

Re: DUX for Dreamcast
For god sake! ......... as a collector I ordered the LE to keep UNOPENED (SEALED) I don't want other people messing round manually switching bloody discs ............... they should leave them sealed and send patched disc separate ............ what was the point of me buying both standard and limited editions if LE will be unsealed!!???Heng-Yu wrote:Hear is the dialog:

Re: DUX for Dreamcast
Normally Play-Asia should ship the game sealed with seperate revision disc. I can only recommend them to handle this issue this way. I actually hope they ship the game before they get the revision disc to speed things up. Curently It's hard to estimate a date for that disc. Shouldn't take long though.
Re: DUX for Dreamcast
What about an option for alternate key configs... or just silently map R to B & Y as well ?RHE wrote:Normally Play-Asia should ship the game sealed with seperate revision disc. Re: DUX for Dreamcast
Custom controls are pending, but hyper soaking feature should be available on Y and B already.
Re: DUX for Dreamcast
Hi Rene, I can only assume the best way for this to happen is to mention it to them? (i.e advise them to ship 'as is' then send patch disc later ... although they will probably not cos of shipping costs??) as they are still ignorant to even having them in stock pending. I am massively looking forward to this game I just hope all this does not spoil it ........... will be totally gutted if my LE is not sealed.RHE wrote:Normally Play-Asia should ship the game sealed with seperate revision disc. On another note ........ liking the reviews so far on you-tube cannot wait ............. arcade stick and VGA at the ready!

Re: DUX for Dreamcast
@RHE:
I played the game a little longer yesterday and noticed that 1Ups can be collected infinitely. E.g. in stage 2 you can get a 1Up close after the checkpoint. It is possible to collect it, then play a little longer and suicide. You get back to the checkpoint and can collect the 1Up again and then suicide again and so on. You can raise your score as high as you want this way (although it takes much longer than with the bug in stage 1 of course).
I don't know if this is intended or not but it makes playing for score again senseless. You could easily change it by making the 1Up unavailable if you fly by at the same point the second time.

Yeah man, what the hell? That's the first thing I noticed. Should've made it デーユーエクス (d u x), it would have looked better.Aru-san wrote:heavymetalme wrote:Now I know that this game isn't pronounced "DUCKS."Japanese on spine wrote:デュックス - dyukkusu
Actually I think ~デ★ユ★エクス~ Try! Try! Try! くそゲームの伝説 would be bett- ok I'll stop now

Re: DUX for Dreamcast
my copy arrived today, and its been a blast. stage 3 is just amazing, but nothing beats the backgrounds of stage 2. also nice choice on the different color for the LE soundtrack cd.
Re: DUX for Dreamcast
I can tell soon how Play-Asia wants to handle the shipment of DUX and its revision disc.

That's already known and going to be fixed. Another thing to fix is that you can ignore checkpoints, so you can even milk whole stages infinitely.I don't know if this is intended or not but it makes playing for score again senseless. You could easily change it by making the 1Up unavailable if you fly by at the same point the second time.

Re: DUX for Dreamcast
So all that jazz about a bug that appears on a 50Hz PAL machine only ? and only if not using VGA ?
ROFLMAO. You guys got to be kidding. - After having endured 15 pages of this crap I think I can safely say that this got to be the worst thread on any forum on any site on the internet ever. Congrats, as it's ridiculous on a whole new level, previously unknown to mankind. "Fremdschämen" comes to mind = to be terribly ashamed for someone else's epic fail. You guys are the very definition of a lynchmob. Japanophile, homophobic, full of prejudices towards all kinds of things.
Nice.
And awesome job, dear mods! Thanks for keeping the witchhunt at such a tolerable level. Thanks a lot.
