The "Look What I Got!" appreciation thread

Post by MrOldSchoolCool »

A lot of us consider ourselves collectors. As a result, we own things that we're quite proud to have. However, people outside of shmups (or perhaps video games in general) often times just don't really care or appreciate what it is. This thread is designed to appreciate the things we cherish.

So here's the rules for this thread:

1. Post pictures of your TWO favorite items in your collection with a little blurb explaining why they are your top 2.
2. Items must be shmup related (be reasonable).
3. IMPORTANT: This is not a value contest. People own things that are valuable to them for a variety of reasons. Be nice and respectful of what other people are proud of.

Besides your desire to limit it to shmups-only stuff, not sure how this is different from this thread: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21030

Super Star Soldier, Final Soldier und Soldier Blade for the PCE, all signed by Shinichi Nakamoto, when I met him in person around 13 years ago. Mr. Nakamoto was the inventor of Bomberman. Engineer, programmer, producer and director during Hudson's PCE years and later on head of Hudson Soft.

It seems like this thread exists to dig a little deeper into a person's history with certain items, which I think is an awesome part of collection.

That's really cool. Were you able to talk to him very much or at all?

yes, we had a private meeting, about half an hour - just me, Mr. Nakamoto and the chief programmer of Saturn Bomberman (can't remember the name right now, sorry - - which only revealed himself after I pulled out my copy of SS Bomberman. Got it signed by both eventually). We really only talked about his PCE days and I had about 20 games with me for signing. A friend of mine had a business date with them, but he couldn't make it and so I took the date on short notice instead.
