More kakusei gems definitely means more gold this time -- especially in the zesshikai. In zesshikai, gems and gold are only depleted via time -- doesn't matter what you kill. An extra 20 gems can mean one more chain, at 500 x ? x number of bullets = big score. Look at how many points the guy gets on his last chain. So yeah, this definitely opens the door for some discrepancies.(more Kakusei gems means slightly better gold haul overall, right?).

I don't know if this really gives that many more points or not. To get to the boss with that many gems and gold, you sacrifice another zesshikai opportunity at the end of the stage. If you'll notice, both streams start at 1, which kind of sucks if you ask me, considering he never changed back to normal mode.FMK wrote:#3407 - Espgaluda II 2nd boss. Player get 2 streams of 500X while in zesshikai mode, on this boss' final patterns. He entered the boss with 23mi+ and leaves with 51mi+.

I saw that too, which was kind of lame, but maybe it's to prevent doing things like that on the bosses to get massive scores, while you just gem hoard on the stages.GaijinPunch wrote:If you'll notice, both streams start at 1, which kind of sucks if you ask me, considering he never changed back to normal mode.FMK wrote:#3407 - Espgaluda II 2nd boss. Possible, but from memory, it won't work on any of the other bosses... not affordably anyway, except for probably the 4th. To get the counter up really high, there has to be X amount of bullets, and only certain bullet patterns will result in x500.
Anyways, I tried this pattern. It's good, but again, I don't know if it really results in higher scores yet. IN fact, I think this video shows a waste of a lot of gems. He goes into Zesshikai way too fast, and doesn't have to stay there for the last pattern. Probably could've started with 350 and pulled it off.

You probably need about 80-100 Kakusei gems to effectvely pull that stage 2 boss trick off - enough to activate Kakusei Overdrive, and to sit while bullets accumulate - and since the multiplier counter resets back to 1 on each pattern, there would be no need to stay in Kakusei Overdrive while the boss goes through it's death animations to the next pattern.
You'd need to balance which boss patterns to attack in regular Kakusei (to boost Gold back up) and which patterns to attack in Overdrive (for 500x multipliers), so a healthy stash of Kakusei gems at all times in boss attacks is a must.
Seems like there's a few threads with bits of strat discussion going on, GaijinPunch. You might want to make a note of them, or drop them into your GD thread in the strat forum so they don't get lost ^_-

Yeah, I'm not forgetting the strategy thread... I just try not to post stuff unless I've got a really good hunch, or it's been confirmed.
It's obviously different for each boss, but you need quite a few gems this time to get up to x500. Something I forgot to mention is that going into zesshikai mid-way thru the potential x500 pattern won't cut it. You have to be in zesshikai before he spits out the bullets. It works mid-way, but some waves of the attack spit out a fixed amount of bullets, others spit out an amount relative to your mode (normal, kakuse, or zesshikai). For that last pattern on the boss, if you have REALLY goood timing you could pull it off w/ 60 I think... but I don't have really good timing.
Anyways, after some studying, I figured out this is how it works. In Zesshikai, if a bullet that's been counted goes off screen, it's subtracted from the overall count. In other words, if you are in zesshikai, and chain 500 bullets, and 100 go off screen, then kill something else, the counter starts from 400 and goes up to 500 again. If you watch the stage 1 video where the guy gets like 18 mil, notice when he's in zesshikai and he kills the big ass cannon on the right. He's long past x500, but if you look in the middle of the screen, you can see some stuff in the 400's (very briefly). That does add a huge level of depth to the system, since all those bullets get in the way.
On that note, on stage 2, you can probably score more points by doing zesshikai before the boss, but this way, you finish with a lot of gold on stage 3. You can essentially do one short zesshikai early in stage 3, one just before the mid-boss, and then one on each of the two "Nightmare" things. As with the first game, there's a lot of planning ahead.
