Yeah, that shit is beyond dumb. I already thought it was dumb when people were doing it with comics and action figure but when it started up for games I was really baffled. Games are meant to be played.

I do understand with comics when it comes to something that is 80 years old and only 5 are known to exist or some such. Sure, make sure those are protected. It is pretty stupid though when someone will go to the new stand, find the mintiest book they can and send it right off to be graded and slabbed. It just shows how bullshit that whole market is. If you want to save a game for posterity or whatever just stick your opened CIB game in a box protector. It will be protected and you can still play it.

Oh, nice!
These Namco CDs are really cool - got a few of them myself. A bit bummed out that the first part of the track [Bay Yard (1st Day) from the Burning Force CD contains sound effects. Oh well.
Want to get some more of those, for sure

Recently bought a 32 Gig iPod (5th Gen) along with a Lightning-to-HDMI adapter (and a bunch of Cave apps). I proceeded to load all my KHDN stuff onto it.

Looks like a convoluted Wii U to me. You look at the phone at first, right, then at the screen during a level?

In a way, yes. It's not really great for playing games on cause you kinda need to be looking at the iDevice screen to see where your virtual buttons are (that and there is some frame lag when running apps). Granted, watching videos from the thing is pretty nifty (it does leave open the option for streaming/capturing video from the unit though). They also make a Lightning-to-VGA adapter (if you wanna stick to analog signals).

CIT wrote:So this works with a pad or what?
iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad (Air, Mini, etc)... yeah. If you have an older model with the 30-pin interface, you can buy a 30-pin-to-Lightning adapter. The display on the TV will rotate in accordance with the display on the unit (so if you're holding the iDevice in portrait mode, the image on the TV will be similar to when a tate game is displayed on a wide-screen in yoko).
Astraea FGA Mk. I wrote:Now we must find a way to plug an arcade stick into an ipod
Well, I guess if they ever made a joystick using Lightning as the connector, yeah, that'd work (so long as the stick had both a Lightning male and female connector). The adapter is already daisy-chained to the Lightning-to-USB cable so I can charge the unit while it's doing all this (cause just running this off the battery drains the sucker like crazy).

I thought you had to have jailbreaking and Cydia apps to pull that off, but then again I'm 4th Gen, and without it for several months because the battery slowly drained down... My idea is to do something like this, except maybe with a dock included and using a separate Bluetooth controller for games that support it through Bluetrol. Any advice for this?

All the equipment above is official. Not all apps support the video-out though.

Just bought a pair of these Gunnars, for work. http://shop.gunnars.com/sheadog/d/1062_c_903

If they turn out to actually do what they say they do, and do it well, I'll probably invest in a tinted pair of PPKs for gaming too.

All the ones I've tried thus far have worked just fine (all the Cave stuff, all the general OS stuff as well as watching videos... ran some iTunes eps of Durarara!!).

Ah. My tastes with electronic/dance music are typically the opposite of ambient. I'm an utter amateur. No wonder I mistook it for tiling.

as many ambient fans are on here, i've never seen zoviet*france, nurse with wound, muslimgauze or current 93 mentioned. kraftwerk - ralf und florian? blows my fucking mind it was released in 73'.
i consider myself lucky, there were some incredible record stores in dallas in the 80's-90's with sections devoted to ambient/experimental.

on topic:

ordered a spyderco chinese lum yesterday.
