So I was lucky enough to grab a cheap VP50 pro but I'm having issues going from 50hz to 60hz modes. Basically every time a source changes from 50hz to 60hz I get a blank screen. Here's what I've done.
1) Connected a 60hz source, configured accordingly, set framerate to locked and saved to profile 1
2) Connected a 50hz source, got no picture, so used the OSD to change output to 1080p 50, set framerate locked to 50hz and saved as profile 2
3) Turned on auto profiles. Tried changing between 50 and 60hz and nothing, just a black screen, unless I manually fiddle with the little LCD and select my profile manually.
What am I doing wrong? These things retailed at over £2k at one time, surely a £2,000 video processor can automatically switch between 50 and 60hz, something a £100 portable telly has no difficulty with?

Re: VP50 pro 50/60hz problem
I think you have to change profiles ONCE for each signal AFTER the auto profile option has been enabled. Also this is remembered on a PER input PER resolution PER refresh rate basis.

You could be right, as it just started working out of the blue.
Will report back after trying with a few other sources too.
I was worried about this, but seems it finds the "best match", I've tried 720p/50 and 60 after setting up the profiles for 1080p only and so far so good. Also this is remembered on a PER input PER resolution PER refresh rate basis.

Re: VP50 pro 50/60hz problem
So far auto profiles are working on everything but 240p/288p, strangely. Not that I plan to use that much on the VP50.

Re: VP50 pro 50/60hz problem
Yes, that's unfortunately right. 240/288p were added very late and there were no FPGA gates left to add dedicated profile slots for these, so no settings are saved for 240p/288p.

Re: VP50 pro 50/60hz problem
Quick question regarding the Xbox 360. I've a bunch of HD-DVD's and the 360 only outputs 50hz or 60hz. Would you advocate outputting locked 60hz and letting the TV do the IVTC to 24 or 48hz or would you convert to 24hz on the VP50 and then let the TV play back at either 24hz or 48hz with Motionflow?

Re: VP50 pro 50/60hz problem
Sony's IVTC is more stable than any VP. I only output 60Hz even from BD or my media player.
