Seibu Kaihatsu, the company that developed Raiden DX, placed lots of anti-piracy protection on their arcade boards.
As a result, the game is currently unplayable in Mame while the MAME Team tries to figure out how to break that protection.
You personally will not get it to run properly in MAME as a result. The MAME Team has been trying to crack this for at least 5 - 10 years, so you'll be waiting a loooooooong time.
In other words, unless you have programming experience in this particular area of emulation, don't bother trying.

If you're planning to, Raiden II is in the same state as Raiden DX. Better to get Raiden Projects or even Raiden DX for the PSX.

PCB doesn't have the extras and convenience of the PlayStation release though.

the arranged tunes on for DX are amazing!
the protection will never be broken at this point. settle for the PS1 ports.

Re: Getting Raiden DX to work on MAME?
Raiden II/DX uses the Seibu COP IC for tons of gameplay logic. Some of it's functions have been discerned, but the rest of the chip is fiendishly nasty and inconsistent. There are other games that use the chip that are more or less working, but the Raiden titles use complex functions that are not touched by any of the other games.
The reason MAMEDEV is taking forever to crack it is because the chip is NOT a microcontroller or a processor or an FPGA of any kind - it is an honest-to-god ASIC with tons and tons of custom logic. It's been put under an electron microscope, but that hasn't brought around any kind of breakthrough.

It's not an ASIC, it's a CPLD. Functionally same thing, but it makes it a lot harder to figure out from a decap due to the way they're made. But yes, it's quite a fucking thing.
