Bee Storm: DoDonPachi II

Post by bestcellar »

My arcade just got it. I have been combing the internet for information on how to score, but to no avail. Anyone have any tips?

The game seems fairly easy from a playability standpoint compared to other titles in the series. I got to level 4 on my first credit.

Graze everything and constantly bomb.

So in other words, play like Raiden Fighters 2 :)

I just sold mine off but it's definitely enjoyable. The reuse of assets can be a bit of a snore but the color palettes are nice and the music is pretty solid for the most part (if lifted from other sources). It's good dumb fun. That said, yeah, just graze and bomb a lot. It's mostly about waiting for the screen to be as full of bullets as possible and repeating. Definitely not a hard game.

In RF2 bombing doesn't affect score. In DDP2, bombing is crucial for scoring (it jacks up your chain intensely, particularly when used against things with way too much life).

It seems like sacrilege that you can continue chains while bombing.

Not really; DDP2 is not like other Pachi games, don't treat it as such. You've got a choice between bombs, the usual kind you can hoard multiples of but that aren't very strong, or the Energy style, which is where the game shines. You can only hold one bomb at a time, and you need to recharge them by grazing, but by grazing well, you can fire off bomb after bomb to quickly jack up your hit chain. It's all about the grazing.
