So no one has it??
Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
A neoGAF poster has some early impressions on the game :

Tonton from one of the French forums also commented on the game

I'll try a quick translation :

I'll try a quick translation :
-It is exciting to see the Karous universe again
-Even if we already knew it, it is still disappointing that it is not a game with a classic shoot'em up structure. Here, it feels more like the training mode of a non-existent game. He hopes that some of the later missions become longer and that a caravan mode is there, justifing the inclusion of score points.
-Even if there is an isometric view, there is no 3D.
-There is quite a bit of slowdown that could explain the lack of 3D.
-He is a stage 2-13 (There were 29 stages in world 1) and doesn't have too many problems completing the objectives even if he doesn't understand Japanese, aside from the stage 2-10 mission objective that is confusing to him even after a dozen tries. There are two bars, one acting as a time counter and the other representing how well you are doing in your given mission. Clever observation of this second meter will allow you to guess what you are supposed to do, but there is a die-and-retry aspect if you can't read Japanese.
-In order to stand a chance in later missions, you have to make use of the weapons and tools you win after completing the previous ones. However, he is not sure whether unlocking those is triggered by the mission clears or EXP-based level-ups. He also doesn't know how to properly use a level 5+ sword as of now.
-The hitbox is quite big and kinda difficult to keep track of because of the isometric view.
-All in all, he likes it (mostly due to him being a big Milestone fan) but thinks he'll be disappointed if there isn't any full stage (caravan stage or an entire level) in the game.

Sure a waste. And then in a couple of years and the few copies distributed start to rise their prices everyone will be looking for it.To Far Away Times wrote:What a waste.Oniros wrote:So it's this like Ketsui Demo Label? Then, I shall pass.
Anyway I enjoyed death label as it is a boss rush game mode with the fifth stage of the game as a bonus.
Sounds nice, must be in the same league as the shooting skill games included in shooting love in some way.
I just hope someone upload some videos of it. I love the DC version and cant wait to try this one out.
Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
I guess (and hope) that the prices won't reach Ketsui DS levels.
Unlike Ketsui, this game doesn't have the "OMG BEST CAVE GAME" hype behind it and unlike Karous, it isn't released as the "last game ever on a dead console".
However, game prices for shoot'em ups on the aftermarket are rarely logical, so it is still a possibility, unfortunately.
I would like to see video footage of the game as well, to see how it plays and have another taste at the music.
EDIT : Here are some other impressions from another player :
http://www.bordersdown.net/threads/1201 ... e-Eden-3DS
They are not very positive.

Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
the dengeki write-up seems pretty positive actually.
i'm about 1/3 into the game and i'm still not sure what to think of it. it's... weird.
first batch of missions is too simplistic to be of interest, but when you reach the harder missions it gets kinda catchy. like, often you'll get similar combination of enemy waves repeating a bunch of times, and essentially you go look for an attack pattern that works well against that wave combination. kinda repetitive and zoney like chaos field. i love me some chaos field but i know for most people that's not a favourable comparison. ^^;
the dialog and user messages are pretty out there and definitely add character. if you can read them.
also yeah if you can't read the mission objectives you'll probably get stuck a lot.

I bought it on release but i'm, once again, tied up with work - got a long flight coming up so hoping to get my teeth into it then.
But yeah -it's a shmup - it'll go up in price

I wonder. Not every new console/handhelp shmup immediately skyrockets in price these days. At least it won't loose it's value.
Where are people getting it anyway? Videogameimports.com here in the UK seems not to have it in.

AmiAmi is sold out.
AmiAmi: [w/Bonus] 3DS Karous -The Beast of Re:Eden-
Having to have a Japanese 3DS puts a bit of a damper on things - that is a constraint that "Ketsui Death Label" doesn't have to deal with.
Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
Region locked means I think I'll pass. And I see AmiAmi already sold out of the edition with the extra music CD. That's not available on Play Asia. Was that an AmiAmi exclusive?HydrogLox wrote:Play-Asia: Karous: The Beast of Re:Edenspadgy wrote:Where are people getting it anyway?

Thanks KAI but those 15 secs of gameplay means nothing. Some kind of walkthrough for the first batch of missions would be nice. Also need to see those slowdowns if they're really bothersome.KAI wrote:Heh
What about nico douga???

Nothing, that video and the PV are the only things you can find on the net.

Maybe some of the other missions are better but what's shown in the vid doesn't look very good to be honest.

Yeah, this looks super uninspired. If anyone is looking to play something on the 3DS might as well grab Kokuga from the eShop.Mero wrote:Video http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22845259

Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
I hope there's some kind of penalty for using the leveled up weapons, if not, this game looks broken to me.
Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
It really doesn't look good. The entire mission played in awful slow-motion. And that leveled-up sword seems too powerful and its range is almost 70% of the screen. However, the player seemed to lose life for no reason, maybe it is related to excessive sword usage?
I wouldn't go as far as saying this video killed all my interest in the game, but it makes me cautious. A shame we couldn't properly hear the music over the player's commentary as well.
Thanks for sharing the link, Mero!

Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
yup, the big final sweep in his sword sequence eats life energy (he explains this at the start of the video).M.Knight wrote:It really doesn't look good. also note that he's specifically trying to get the "throw 50 bombs in a single mission" achievement.
so what you're looking at is him trying to cram 50 bomb drops into that mission.
he spams the sword attack in hopes of getting bomb recovery items (特).
not exactly normal play. (screw achievements, but that's another story)
the other day i stumbled into an empty stage.
mission objective: ?????????
took a while to figure out what to do with that.
it's a weird game. more character than quality, but definitely a lot of character.

Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
Would anyone be able to point me to a list of the missions? I'm having trouble reading some of the kanji for the missions to completely understand them (like Mission 1-8). I can't seem to find a Japanese wiki page or a listing of the missions.

Any idea who "CIRCLE Ent." are?
Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
One game that really worths from Circle The Legend of Dark Witch, a great combination of MegaMan and Darius. And it's very cheap.

As about 3DS port of Karous, I have also heard that it has frame rate issues.

I'm waiting for its localization to see what kind of reviews it will get.

Karous BOR isn't a port tho.
Re: Karous: the Beast of Re: Eden for 3DS
It's nice to hear about another shmup coming to the west on 3DS, but I'll skip this one since it doesn't sound too hot.
