Did my VP50 just die??
My DVDO iScan VP50 has been totally fine until today when I went to use it. No response at all. Output is just the normal blue screen, and I cannot get the menu even to come up. The red LED is on. This is something I noticed the other day, because I don't think it stays on when the unit is in standby. I unplugged the VP50, and that didn't help. The front screen briefly says it's powering up, but then nothing. Not the remote, because the menu button is doing nothing on the front of the unit. What the hell happened to this thing? Is there some kind of reset that is needed?

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

Reset = hold Menu + Enter on the front panel while plugging in the PSU in the back.
BUT it's very likely that your PSU failed. If it's still the original PSU, you're lucky it has been running till today. Hanging boot sequences or irrational behaviour of the processor are clear signs of the PSU not being able to output a steady 6V anymore. Get a replacement PSU from ebay.

yes, found it, power it on holding menu/exit. that worked. big sigh of relief! Still couldn't get component signal to pick up, then ransacked through the mess of wires and saw that the green wire fell out from my switch box. what a dufus I am.
